Those filler 20 sec tracks do not flow with the album at all. Any chance they will be replaced somehow with full songs when themalbum releases? Like the copy they sent out early were just placeholders of sorts In those spots? Im reachin here

^robgnarr YES definitely. Takes some adjustment, but I'm sure I'll get used to it
thegasprices, I think that's definitely a stretch. They're pretty intricate little compositions, I doubt that he would record them just as placeholders. They're the real deal

After 2 listens, I am not sure how much I like this album.
My concerns are that the songs structures are based on repetition and loops and don't seem to evolve very much. I am listening a lot to Syro these days and there is a huge clash between Panda's repetitivity and use of hypnosis versus Aphex organic/evolutive approach to a song.
I really appreciated the simple vocals on the EP, here it seems the reverb and multi-chorus effects from Tomboy are back on many tracks.
Of course I'll try the album a few more times on headphones and different settings, we'll see.
But perhaps I've just got more interested in songs where you follow an unexpected no-return path versus a song where you have to turn circles for hours until your brain sync and get absorbed.
I feel that Person Pitch somehow managed to mix these 2 approaches.
g' night

My feelings exactly. :/ Everything was so well timed up to this point that there's no doubt that some major surprises would have been in store for us.
And I hate to be the negative nancy here (and not to mention a hypocrite, to an extent) but it's seriously disappointing to hear fans casually discuss their enjoyment towards an illegally uploaded LP when its producer has been checking in here almost everyday in the most friendly way. It must be pretty heartbreaking for him to know that not only will the pre-conceived build-up now be entirely irrelevant but that a certain amount of excitement will be lost by the time of release. Some may argue that freebirds have been shown to increase revenues but I somehow doubt that would be the case for a record that has surfaced nearly two months in advance.
There were few complaints here about the release date being in January so why is everyone now too excited and selfish to wait like everyone else? It's so weird to see even OT posters demonstrate more humility and sympathy over this freebird.

i definitely think this is panda's best work and it definitely holds its own when comparing it to any animal collective release. the first listen was challenging because of the differences from the boots, but its officially a GROWER!!!! here are my thoughts on the songs:
sequential circuits sets the mood... its menacing, its chilly... pandas getting ready to meet the reaper... hes getting ready to fight... were ready to laugh, cry and experience an album like no other... but we could never be ready
mr noah is dirty fun... the bass is distorted... the melody's cooky... its a good song with stellar presentation... it makes dogs weep
crosswords is a breeze... its a feel good song... its a head bobber... pandas dancing and smiling... its simple but in the best way possible... damn it's sooooo good
butcher baker candlestick maker is panda reminding us he doesnt mind putting our ears through a loop... he isnt always here to please... he doesnt want this album to be to easy... things have to get weird sometimes... he wants some experimental fun...
boys latin is a trip... his vocals are alien... other worldy... its beat is messy... its panda floating around our heads... disorienting us into bliss...
come to your senses bangs... its emotional... pandas not trying to make that one again but just making... yeah hes mad and letting us know it...
tropic of cancer is a heartbreaker... panda is singing this alone on stage... tears running down his faces after losing a love... he playing our heartstrings as a harp...
lonely wanderer is dark but beautiful... panda is tickling the ivories to lure us in... then blasting us with dark bass tones... its a trap you want to fall into...
principe real is a party... panda lured us in... we could've fallen into certain death... but instead he grabbed our hands and pulled us onto the dancefloor with him...
selfish gene is bittersweet... this has been a hard journey at times... but now its all okay... panda is reasurring us... we'll trip up again... but we need to get up again...
acid wash is a parade... we are celebrating... we have escaped the grim reaper... he has made everything better... panda has lead us to victory... this is his final speech... we have won...

I am as mad as anyone else that this was freebirded and I wish that it hadn't been done. I agree.. I bet there were so many cool things still in store and the buildup was insanely fun.. I hope whoever uploaded it gets found out.
it's unrealistic to expect a group of hardcore enthusiasts to hold off listening to a freebird, though. and talking about it. it WAS freebirded, and most people have it now.. nobody wants to feel left out of it and that's why even people that wanted to wait are listening.
still. I really really wish it hadn't.

don't feel bad about listening to freebird at all. Can you imagine this whole board knowing the album is there to listen to but just talking about the anticipation we have for it. That would be ridiculous.

Why would that be ridiculous? You're making it sound as if there would be a total drought of good to be enjoyed between now and January, which would not be the case at all.
I understand bansheebeaten's sentiments but geez, something feels extremely off about this.

The album is in a listenable state but the board would be all "gee i wonder if this will live up to the boots" "will he keep the drum drop in crosswords". I didn't listen to the boots because i didn't want to be accustomed to something different than the final product, but this is the final product and if you already have the album on preorder then I see nothing wrong with it. If you want to hold off that's fine I get that. Sonic said on here it's their fault the album is taking so long to come out (sent it to the pressing people too late) so if they had it their way it would probably be out by now anyway.

what a nice reaction to a freebird. thanks for making such a great album.
i was missing that "oooooooo" transition in BBCM too, but really it seems like a vocal showcase moment more fit for a live show if i think about it. the synth chords take its duty in the studio version and kinda force us to listen more to the whole production at hand at that moment. ditto for some of the other changes i think... taking out some of the show-y vocal stuff makes sense when the arrangement isn't being sampled and triggered and thus more secondary and stuff.
i don't know. it's sick live and in the studio i guess that's all i mean ha ha. what an album !

sidenote:
not to complain, but I'm pretty bummed that the belting vocal at 3:11 in this video isn't on the album. Easily one of my favorite snippets from all of the bootlegs. Are there any audio magicians that can work it in as a backing vocal or something?
