ahhh alright i listened to it
i listened to a boot only once and the only track that sounded familiar was Blind Babe
i'm really feelin all of it and the drumming is seriously fantastic throughout
but wow does it sound compressed; i'm pretty hopeful that the actual release won't sound this bad because little fang also sounds pretty compressy in this version to me.
little fang is the only track that really sounds horror moviesque to me which i'm pretty okay with.

Quality is definitely more than listenable, but won't be able to judge finer production details 'till a legit 320 or FLAC freebirds.

Yeah Sender is such a good opener. That and Modern Daze might be my favorite so far. And for some reason MDE reminds me of that Ann Steele Album

That fucking burst of flanger pedal at the beginning of Modern DayZ sorta turns me off.

They really nailed it with the production this time. It definitely sounds more live and in your face then CHZ did.
Though, it's kind of a sick joke that the album freebirded with a missing song. If you're going to freebird the album and screw the band over, go all the way and freebird the complete album. Why bother taking a single song off the album? Either way you're guilty, and you've made matters worse by handing out an incomplete version of what the band wanted. Same thing happened with Mac's album, ugh.

Yeah imagine CHZ with this kind of production, oh man.

Yeah, man it would have been so much better. It's funny that self-producing the album got a better sound then what Ben could muster up with CHZ.

CD Quality CHZ sounds better than Slasher Flicks stream transcode or whatever this is. Come on.
Let's wait on a better rip before comparing..

Yeah, true that this is in pleb quality. But still, I dig Little Fang's production more then all of CHZ and that one was released in a higher bitrate.

Lol, looked at it and it's literally in 320 kbps; maybe 256kbps but the treble goes too high.
All I can say for this album, is it sounds like Ween's effects on an MGMT album with Avery singing. I'm kinda indifferent right now. Gotta give it more listens.

What on earth does the treble have to do with the bitrate?
And I don't know what you mean by "maybe 256"... if it's a transcode of a 320, it's already much worse quality than 256.

yeah i guess it was pretty unfair of me to compare it to CHZ, still though this kind of sound is what I had in mind when AC were talking about having a live-sounding record in the pre-CHZ interviews.
Also I know I've already said something about it but man I can't get over how much I love A Sender, that guitar melody is just beautiful. Avey really knows how to choose a great opening song.

I've only previewed the tracks, I'm waiting to listen to them in their entirety until the weekend
but daaaaaaaaaaamn I'm loving what I've heard so far, unless the second halves of all the tracks suddenly get jumbled up, I couldn't be happier with the sound, the production, and the songwriting, I'm just diggin it

A Sender = Strawberry Feels with ‘straight’ drums
Duplex Trip = Way Down There with Oddsac murky/spookyness
Blind Babe = Centipede Winter Wonderland hyperspeed
Little Fang = Ariel Bowie + Berlin Pink
Catchy (Was Contagious) = Sweet Panda melody with Avey in severe decay
That It Won't Grow = 5 songs in one Strawberry Jam via future Down There soundz
The Outlaw = Avey fronts 70s prog with a hint of Modest Mouse Ice Cream
Modern Days E = Afro Applesauce tumbling through radio static
Strange Colores = technicolour madchester art dance pop splosion.
Your Card = Did You See The Words get thrown into a 70s Coke haze?
Alternative version:
A Sender = wtf is this magic?
Duplex Trip = mind blown
Blind Babe = I can’t even
Little Fang = mmm tasty what?
Catchy (Was Contagious) = what is happening to my ear holes?
That It Won't Grow = am I hurtling through multiple musical universes?
The Outlaw = my face is melting
Modern Days E = its just… how?
Strange Colores = ideas in the membrane
Your Card = I am in a puddle on the floor

Waiting for Dave to realize that this low quality rip is out there, missing a song, and then just freebird it himself..

I'd agree that something does sound a little off in terms of the quality...has anyone been able to verify that it is indeed a transcode?
That said, I'm also liking what I'm hearing, A Sender in particular, but can't help but wish that the vocals were a bit louder in places...especially in That It Won't Grow. I might be in the minority but the Duplex Trip change might be for the better imo. I also gotta say that I love that synth bass used all throughout

Avey is such a powerhouse of a songwriter. I just can't believe the quality/quantity of his output. And so varied too. A lot of this reminds me of White Album for some reason, beatles-y in an abstract way. And distinctly Avey, and he just seems like he gets better and better... Sender is so fucking good O_O
