Both PB and Avey's bandcamp pages are being updated. Sadly no restocks of hard-to-find wax. Still, some super amazing digital stuff!!!

the ADWTH digital mix is exactly the same as the vinyl mix but randomly, in every track, panda shouts BUY THE VINYL BUY THE VINYL like it's a napster download of a barenaked ladies album

So HCTI's title was offensive ? ...

I always thought here comes the Indian was referring to someone from India
probably should remove Kids on Holiday for using “r*****” too (a word this message board actively censors)

Aye that probably has more potential to offend than HCTI's title surely. I wonder, did Avey keep that lyric in when they performed it on the PW tour?
Suppose changing past artwork / titles is a lot easier and unobtrusive than messing with songs. Reminds me of the Fall song The Classical which has the n-word in it - they left it as it was and on later tours they just changed the lyric.

I don't know if I'd say HCTI's title was actively offensive, but it was certainly ignorant and insensitive, and clearly the band became uncomfortable with it over time.
Calling this "self-censorship" is a misnomer. I mean, yeah, they have gone back and changed their work (in a small way). But it's not like they're doing this out of fear of reprisal, or that it's resulted in some brilliant artistic statement being watered down or dramatically altered; this is just the band looking back on some things (a title; a cover art) they did a decade ago, not liking it any longer, and changing it accordingly. That's really no different from any other creative decision.

"cripple" in the Pitchfork's 21st show, and "ta-ta" on the Sung Tongs '18 tour (or at least the Dallas show that I have). This is something the band has been actively changing, and maybe even workshopping, the line in recent years, so anyone going "well what about…" is way off the mark here.

Can we expect the new project they mention to be the 2019 songs reworked with this new process? Or are they holding off on recording those and starting brand new songs instead?

which is hilarious because it's arguably just as offensive as the original word

It would be really nice to also get the new psycho active tracks and swallow at the hollow in high quality on bandcamp. keeping my finger crossed!

what the hell
So I of course went and updated the cover art for People and Ark in my MP3 library, and since the Bandcamp page has nice, high-quality art of the other albums— frequently much better than what I had before— I updated my MP3s with those files, too.
And now that I look, all the ones I updated have become corrupted to some degree. They all now have, like, phantom time in their runtime: "Did You See the Words" says it's 5:53, though the MP3 immediately stops playing and moves onto the next at the correct time (5:15). Except for Sung Tongs, which now has an additional ~1:15 of time, and it's not silent but a repeated snippet from earlier in the song, now tacked onto the end.
Not even sure what to do here. I can live with the weird phantom time, but ST is basically unlistenable. Do I trim the MP3s myself? Get new files— and meticulously re-tag everything? How do I make sure this doesn't happen again? Gahh.
I checked the songs on my iPhone (which hasn't been updated yet), and they all have the correct runtimes. So something happened when I updated the cover art, and I have no idea how or why. I don't expect anyone else will get this error but I just wanted to share and vent.

that is weird for sure. i would try making more arbitrary tag changes the broken files to see if it settles back into place or possibly opening them in some different tag-aware software (i assume itunes broke them)

what seems to be the problem with renaming albums, besides your own belief that people are too sensitive these days? you can call it Ark just like you started calling Knock You Down “Monkey Riches” when the real title came out

Still kinda confounded by the changes. I mean, should we have asked Ginsberg to revisit Howl and clean it up a bit? Or have Tarantino go back and bleep the hell outta Django Unchained? I feel like great art doesn’t make concessions or self-censor. Jamie Stewart’s going to have a lot to account for if this is the new standard. Let it be! For fuck’s sake. Who, really, are the conservatives here?
