Well, bad news lol. I biked to Fire Talk Records in Greenpoint and they didnt have it yet.... Probably should have called first. Dont think I'll be able to hit a different store today, I already spent my lunch break on the earlier goose chase.
If anyone else has the means to rip it please dont be shy! I can assist/clean up the recording!
Maybe Dallou?

Wasn't Virginia Tech supposed to drop today (Friday in US) anyways? Did I just imagine that?
I heard the SS rip and the quality of the recording is rough.

I don't think we've had any indication that the B-side will be officially released online.
And we know Panda loves to lock something behind a vinyl wall for a while.

Yall.. stop asking until we have a good rip. You're asking for bathroom flacs. Love yourself.
Mine is probably showing up tomorrow, I'm confident we'll see a rip today but if we do not I will do it.

i hate to sound like a no attention span zoomer but could you hit me with like a 15-track best of, i really like the style of the album but find its length to be impenetrable
Kind of impossible really. I wouldn’t say the album is full of essential tunes but asking that is like asking for a 9 track cut of Have One On Me. Simply impossible to curate. Just take it step by step honestly, over time you will find the tracks that you gravitate to the most. Even if it’s in 5-song increments it’s better than nothing. Sometimes albums need to be 2 hours long and this is certainly no exception.

in my opinion this song is amazing. we always say that when they drop new shit but person pitch has firmly remained my favorite album of all time for the past 5 years and when I say this song tops several songs on it I am dead fucking serious.
how in god's name is this a b-side
edit: okay it's kind of a non-song in a way, but extremely beautiful

People who truly do not care are gonna have these LQ v-tech rips in their music libraries for the next 15 years now that it's out there in this quality. We really gotta get better at not handing these out in this state.

if i die tomorrow i'd rather have heard a bad rip of virginia tech than not heard the song at all.
hot damn though, that's a fun song. homies meets early beatles. i wonder if it's a b-side because it doesn't quite fit within the stylistic parameters of the album. it doesn't seem to have the specific guitar sound used on defense and the madrid boot, and he tends to stick with a well defined palette throughout an album.
this also makes a lot of sense paired with a track that features cindy lee. i could imagine a song like this on diamond jubilee.

Yeah, that's why I only wanted to share it with old-heads and hardcore folk who were craving the new stuff and who I was confident would upgrade it as soon as the HQ was available. Seems like folks were passing around the self-defined shit recording anyways, so apologies to those who never seek out the HQ version--although that's ultimately on you, I guess
Anyways, thanks to Gman3k and preak for the great rip and touch-ups, hope it is worth it in HQ for all who dipped their toe in with the shit recording and for all who held out

Was able to snag a copy after walking across town in the rain for two hours. A store close to me had one they said they would hold for me but they accidentally sold it by the time I got there! I guess they said people have been calling them all morning about it and they didn't think it would be so popular and didn't order a lot.
But holy wow! Virginia Tech is amazing! Such a fun song, I totally get the Paul Simon Graceland comparison. It has that fun bounciness a lot of the songs on that record have. Man, I love defense, but if this is another example of the pallet off Sinister Grift and is only a b-side, then we are in for a major treat!

hey, has anybody seen a full version of what the art on the back of the lp will look like? the little snippets that show up on most of the images make it look like a dutch-inspired still life. seems like a cool pairing with the portrait on the front. it makes the cover art pop more for me emotionally, knowing that it's created within a specific artistic tradition.
