I don't get what all the fuss is about. This is par for the course. You better believe there's going to be a digital release. Non-vinyl peeps might just have to wait a little longer for official digital versions.

My prediction is there won't be an official digital release at all
Wish I hadn't posted an opinion at all about the vinyl only release. Discussion is so narrow minded and weirdly hostile. Just lock the thread until January 12

My dedicated "music time" is usually my commute to work... so that's what bums me out about Homies being vinyl only. Hell if there was a cassette option I would have been happy with that and would dig out my old Walkman from elementary school! I know the vinyl rip will be fine... I'll probably have to listen to it on max volume to hear all the details like every other quiet vinyl rip (definitely not ideal for
my hearing though...), but again it'll never sound as nice as a FLAC file.
No complaints though, new Panda is always a treat no matter what format it is released in (with very minimal wait time between announcement and release to boot!)

For people worried about quiet vinyl rips, you can normalize audio files in Audacity which should get them around regular listening level so you don't have to crank the volume. I did that with Meeting of the Waters because even the official digital version of that is quiet. I know it's an extra step and sort of tedious, but at least it's a solution
I don't have any problem w/ vinyl only and actually think it's a cool idea but the more I think about it, I can understand why people are upset about no official digital or lossless version. It's nice to at least have the option to hear it in pristine quality even though it won't make a huge difference for most listeners. Maybe we will get an official digital release eventually, too soon to tell

That's really good advice! Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try this with my Tomboy Box Set file.

Y'all take this shit back to the Avey-gush thread. Only Panda OGs welcome here.
I've had a turntable for twenty years. Releasing records on vinyl doesn't bother me but I don't share the fetishism for the medium. It's shit for c****, like moustache wax, artisanal curd or pop-up mom and pop stores. Faux-authenticity. Release live bears into these people's homes. Fire bees out of a minigun at their fuckin kids. Pray for complete solar death 24/7.
For the sake of balance, I think the reversing of Pullhair Rubeye is an equally wanky move, but at least there's something wilfully obtuse about that. It's a more earnest and deliberate 'fuck off and fuck your family'. This is like, 'hey dudes, y' all heard of the vinyls the DJs have these days? Well, like my man Burial I don't make albums any more, I just make MUSIC and release it in the most AUTHENTIC fashion, like I made two halfs of an album instead of just one album because I make enough bank from my rockin sweatshop bois Uniqlo. Wear a Japanese jumper and drop a deuce on some fuckin Guats - metaphorically ofc HAHA. Buy my vanilla.'

How are people still debating this? Obviously Panda revels in being an elitist classist ableist capitalist pig, and we should all just accept that

Damn Stan this all thing really bothers you. And I don't know if you are really angry about the Sonic production thing or if it is some sort of meme, internet personna thing.
You sound like a broken record in this thead, we got it, you are pissed. Move on until more info comes. And no one is censoring you,it is fucking music, I don't care if you hated Grime Reaper or if you think Noah is a dick but it is just boring after 10 posts.

I was buying vinyl years before I got a record player. I like having the large format for the art, and all the little goodies that come with a lot of vinyl releases. There's nothing wrong with just having it around. This record is only $5 USD more than most CD releases. And I know there are a lot of vinyl rips out there that are almost indistinguishable from straight up digital. Yeah, it's going to kill the album sales not having a digital copy, but he's not doing it out of spite to anybody. The people that want to listen to it will.

I preordered the vinyl but don't have a record player. My plan is to just scratch the record with my fingernail and open up my throat to play it.

The reason I sort of like this approach personally is because music is sooooo easily accessed these days. If you use any of the streaming platforms you can add an album into your library pretty much as soon as it's announced and then it will just be there when it comes out. No real effort required. And for me personally it just makes the whole thing a lot less special. A recent example, when the new grizzly bear album came out I didn't even notice it's official release, so it just sat in my library for weeks unlistened.
I've been thinking about your comment, because I do think it's a good point. It took me a long time to listen to any streaming service, and for the longest time I was kind of limited to CD's that I would get at a used bookstore. Some of my favorite albums are from that store because of how intimate the experience was. Going through the racks, picking out something that looked cool, then sitting down in front of a CD player focused almost entirely on the music - that gave me some of my most personal music experiences and I loved it. So I understand why you would want a return to that kind of experience, and why, if this was Noah's intention, it's a fine choice.
The thing is, you and I have always had the option of having that experience, even with the advent of streaming services. CD's and vinyl have still existed, and nothing's stopping us from always buying a CD or a record to have a more special listening experience. You could have chosen to purchase a physical copy of that Grizzly Bear album and listened to it that way if you wanted.
I don't think making a more personal listening experience is justification enough for this decision. It's always been an option for fans who want to experience the bros' music that way.

feel like yr the angsty teenage son and panda bear is yr recently divorced dad whose dating a new woman (pbvsgr/this new album?) and yr rlly pissed, and kind of edgy a la a disney channel movie in the late 90s or 80s teen fiction maybe. that's just the energy i get, im kind of indifferent but it is cool how this thread has mostly become about addressing one poster's angst, but i guess theres a couple ppl miffed about the vinyl thing so ya...
this is a safe place for die-hard fans AND pissed off ppl too i guess. like pbvsgr era almost had like too much hype, so again i guess its a balance thing. i guess. (stop posting?(??maybe not im not sure, like maybe just post in the videogame thread and not panda threads anymore? but also no ya just do u i guess)

i have no care about the format. i'll buy and consume it, anyway. don't want to get into the other minutiae being discussed here, but for people that don't have or 'can't afford' a record player...if you have a 'smart phone' or a computer, then you can afford a record player. go to a thrift store, go to an antique store. i got my first record player [granted, it was like 1997] for $0.99 at a salvation army [sorry, i think mary already made some of this point]. but i also got a sweet fucking hifi for $40 at an antique store six years ago. and stan, even though i disagree, i love your posts. i truly love when people poke fun at shit i love. it makes me all the more endeared towards it. for all the people who are just entertaining themselves with their posts, at least stan entertains others. either way, i don't know. i've grown bad at opinions in my old age.
