Collected Animals

Idk why people would even expect a new Animal Collective album to sound like their older ones. This one is a new sound but so much about it still screams Animal Collective.
LITG is amazing. I didn't like it on first listen but there's a lot going on that isn't apparent at first. I love that it's so much more spacious than Floridada.

a special friend just hooked me up with the album. never thought this day would come. still can't share because it's watermarked but seeing as though I'm constantly on this website, feel free to crunchitize me if you wanna know about some of the songs. I'm sure I would love to rant

A lot of AC songs have titles that don't match the lyrics

Any ideas as to where the song gets its title? None of those lyrics seem to be about lying in the grass, and the music definitely doesn't evoke that image, at least to me

being a hunter or a predator? the lyrics mention (at least as i hear them) gut feelings, instinct, and urges. also about getting dirty while searching for something good, and about hiding (get mixed in this crippling fixture, try and approach the hidden mixture). like a predator lying in the grass, ready to pounce. i guess all that could be a metaphor for a personal search for inspiration.

This is an interesting analysis, but still doesn't explain away the curious title. In fact, I think 'hunter' would've been a much more fitting title.

just in case you missed the connection i tried to make. just my assumption though, and it is admittedly a stretch. if you take the title at face value, diomedes mentioned how the phrase juxtaposed the feel of the song, and i think it works the same way applied to the lyrics. this song rips!

I have had a similar experience with their music
my sister has autism and downs and a few of the times times that I've picked her up from places, i happened to be listening to mpp or sung tongs and she really responded to it in a more positive way than normal
so naturally, i cranked the volume
i feel that people with that kind of disability are really in tune to the underlying emotion(s) that are present within a song... thinking this album will be even more therapeutic in that regard, assuming that it doesn't cross that line that causes anxiety haha
