ya i cant really tell re avey singing. i just know its at least mostly panda... there are some beautiful and wonky harmonies on this

I'm like 90% sure its avey guys.. my gut tells me so

ed: on good headphone you can really tell the timbre of the voice and it def sounds like aveys

i mean idk i feel like i cant trust my ears. but like i guess avey is the first part of the hocket/harmony thing on the very first verse? think i just caught that... if its right... at first i kinda thought the whole thing was noah wtf (besides the danse-y vocals in the loop)

I think the first half of the song is primarily Avey and then when the tempo switches halfway through Panda takes the lead

i think (based on this song and a few of the samples) that avey's vocal delivery on this album is very much influenced by panda's vocal style and that's why it is difficult to tell who is singing this song and a few of the samples (in particular see: golden gal sample). maybe he's singing more like panda cause they're doing a lot of harmonizing / tradeoffs / callbacks and it's just rubbing off on him, or maybe they're intentionally trying to make their voices blend, who knows

From this and FloriDada it definitely seems like he toned down his delivery this time around, possibly to preserve his voice after the last CHz tour

I definitely disagree, I feel like the sounds used in Centipede Hz all create a consistent and interesting atmosphere. Literally the only sound I can think of on that record that I feel iffy about is the buzzing noise on the verses of Rosie Oh, but if I'm in the right headspace even that clicks for me. the hocketing effect on the verses of this song involves avey's voice being echoed by panda's voice, and everything else is the two of them singing in harmony. when you listen through headphones it's pretty clear

just listened to the burglars bathroom flac for the first time in months... it's going to be one of the best ac songs ever honestly

I'll tell ya, having LITG alone in my iTunes makes it play the next song in line...Which is Blockhead's "It's Raining Clouds" and they work oddly fantastic into one another.

yeah I did the same thing after listening to Lying in the Grass on repeat a bunch, and it just kicked in how incredible that song is going to be/how incredible the whole album will be.

By more sounds I mean more songs, of course! I want to understand this in context of Painting With more than isolated/paired with Floridada. Like I said I'm really lovin' this tune, no complaints. I just desire more!

This shit is awesome. It sounds very different from past AC and very different from Fldada. More excited than ever for this album right now. This track is crazy. I love it so far and i've only listened 3 times. defintely a grower. Love all the really tight blendy harmonies on the painting with tracks so far. LOve u animals!

just wanted to add that i'm loving Lying in the Grass! first listen gave me vibes of hearing lion in a coma for the first time, watching a live festival broadcast i believe? hmm not just sounds or anything, maybe the feels i get off new ac experiments working in my ears. magic. Anyways, I enjoy reading the discussion (a lil too much lately) and must have forgotten my previous ca account but didn't see anyone mention.....

i really feel them on this one but i didn't noticed until i hit the forest. know they have mentioned it in an interview or two and it comes through lying in the grass. lil ankylosaurus too

It's a very good thing for our boys that the album has not freebirded yet. The single release + cool app would not have had the same effect if we were all already listening to the whole album.

Yeah, Greaper freebirding sucked because that roll out was great. I'm glad this hasn't freebirded yet as there's another song on the way. After that though it can feel free to freebird whenever it likes

I know some people said a few pages back that this "doesn't sounds like AnCo, might as well be a different band".

I disagree, it's different and unique yes, different than most of their stuff recently..but in a GOOD way. In that AnCo way. It still sounds very much like them.

Idk why people would even expect a new Animal Collective album to sound like their older ones. This one is a new sound but so much about it still screams Animal Collective.
LITG is amazing. I didn't like it on first listen but there's a lot going on that isn't apparent at first. I love that it's so much more spacious than Floridada.
