Defense is awesome. It feels like a continuation of the vibe of the Never Ending Game remix he did, which is one of my favorite pb deep cuts and a sound i had been hoping he’d work with for a real album.

Can’t wait for it! gonna be so good. Also hi deakin!

Yes, love that 'remix', which is really a PB song, one of my favorite things he's done in the last chunk of years

Also, I echo the props to Joshmin.

I must've listened to defense maybe 15, 20 times already. Noah's style is so beautifully refined at this point, everything in perfect balance. I've listened to his music probably more than any other artist in my life, I feel so personally tuned into everything he does. this song is simple, but it's precisely put together. if that's indicitave of the whole album, which I am sure it is, we are in for an all-timer.

Hey yall, sounds like someone is planning to make an HQ stereo rip tomorrow (see bottom of previous page). I'd highly recommend holding out for that, it's one more day and the song sounds sick in non-"bathroom flac" quality.

I think part of it is that the industry doesn’t release new stuff of note in all of November and December, so they act like those months don’t exist at all. An October announcement of a February album might seem like a four month lead to us. But it’s really only two, by their measure.

He just posted about the 7". On his website there is a tool that shows where the records will be available. Funny because I called 2 of them and neither had any idea what I was talking about lol.

great interview with Zane Lowe today - spent about 10 mins talking about the new record

things i recall him saying:

- "defense" was one of the first songs written, all the songs are 4-5 years old
- Cindy Lee did all parts remotely (Deakin already mentioned this)
- being the drummer only for the TS/IIN rock band era inspired him to use his new drumming techniques on a solo record and kinda do his own rock band thing playing the instruments himself
- sinister grift was just a phrase he liked and he tried to build songs off the vibe of that title
- no common theme on the record, but anything that is a "powerful lie that we tell ourselves"
- speaker on "defense" has a heavy sense of guilt, navigate a certain stance that felt sort of inevitable but also painful

Y'all... the version of Virginia Tech out there is not properly recorded. It's a good taste and props to the recorder but it's basically like "PM me bathroom flacs" - wait for the actual transfer to drop like any minute now!

I have also described it as bathroom flacs. 100% agree. Who even recorded that junk (not the song, the recording)

I consider Reset to be as much of a Panda album as any

Buoys came out in 2019 which was five years ago. Reset is billed as Panda Bear & Sonic Boom, so I guess consider it however you want but it doesn't mean Pitchfork is wrong that his last solo album came out five years ago lol

Hey gang, I'm very nearby one of the record stores (they filled me in on the release in the first place), and I'm pretty sure they have more copies. They sell stuff on discogs all the time too, so if you want to, PM me and I'll let you know which record store (don't want to disclose here because they weren't supposed to fill me in in the first place and I don't want them to get punished in the future by any Domino lurkers), and maybe you can call and see if they still have copies and if they'll ship; otherwise we could maybe arrange something for me to ship it to you, but I'd need the $ including shipping up front.

Defense for real gets better with every listen. It reminds me of some of the best Panda stuff, where it's very simple and repetitive, but everything is in such perfect balance. Also agree that it has a similar vibe to the Never Ending Game remix.
Really hope this freebirds lol

Can you imagine if he plays Never Ending Game with the full band this tour? :negative:
