Dang that would be a good chunk of the album. I'd like to think I would hold off to hear the album in full but considering I couldn't not listen to the bathroom flacs I know I'm gonna cave.

Echoing the "hope it's the non-album tracks" hype! Would be odd to premiere two tracks from PW with it coming out in a few weeks and all.

But I also feel like it'd be weird to throw two random tracks out into the wild unless they're from the Gnip Gnop 7".

just a very blankety unofficial thought but i do wonder if after the very immediate (yet still growing) trio of Feels, Strawberry jam, and MPP, there is a trio (ODDSAC is on an entirely different level! it is something out of a dream, though they all are! ok getting slightly sidetr..) of albums that while wonderful on first and consective listens are also huge grower albums.

sometimes i do feel like the centipede on the album artwork is, as album artwork can be interpreted in so many ways, hinting that, five, ten, twenty or more years later Centipede hz for example is going to feel so different and somehow wildly exponentially more interesting than many of us already think it is while growing more as well for some others who are not into it yet.

The Grateful dead have many many albums like that, it was sort of their big secret to make their studio albums more obtuse, subtle, indirect, so that they would grow and become more majestic and awe inspiring, the unusual parts would gradually make more sense, where their concerts were so loved and were meant to of course present the most magical sound for both long time concert goers and new folks there for the first time too!

So to put it simply, i feel like Painting with is going to be quite an incredible album and not only that one that will build and build in how it feels and sounds over the years!!

honeycomb/gotham was released may 6, a full 4 months before Hz. so this is much closer

Yeah, I feel that was what Avey meant. Either way, any new songs will be surprises.

it's pretty obvious from reading the IG message that it will be two songs from the LP.

but that's fucking crazy! one of them could release this week or even next week! how are some of you guys not freaking out, especially considering the prospects of a freebird seem really low now

idk, I think I'm in the minority here but I don't think anything about avey's message made it sound like they would definitely be album singles. He just said two more songs would be released. He could have said that about honeycomb/gotham during the centipede hz era (although I guess that example doesn't work since those songs were released before centipede was even announced)

they said that they still have 2 new songs (that are neither on painting with or the bairro/gnip gnop single)
and their has been a precedent before of them releasing a non-album single before an album (eg honeycomb/gotham before chz) which they have stated they enjoy doing
so I don't see how that is more far fetched than another album single
