I just realized we can't really make a CA cover album yet because we don't have live versions :(

Let's make 30 second covers based on the Amazon samples

I rex every track will sound like a cartoon theme song..... Or did someone already say this & I'm just channeling? :drugz:

Is there already a topic for favorite cartoon music? :weed: :weed: :weed:

Lesotho, if you have heard the album, at least tell us the last line (or word) of recycling.... and you will be proven right... cuz everything you have said so far seems to sound like thing i've read already, like "it never slows down"... they've mentioned things like this several times in interviews... :boo:

I think the Ramones might not get that ....

Might have been an aim , but i think its short hand ...

No reason for the guy to lie, loads of reviewers will have it by now. They're obviously a bit more careful these days with sending stuff out to people they trust.

It never even crossed my mind that he could be lying until someone said it. Don't think he is. Shame he doesn't like the album much

My favourite AC records are the ones I didn't much like or get straight away.

They've also never made a record where all of the songs ultimately sound similar or mush together, so I'm guessing it will just take time to reveal itself

Literally it will be amazing, if you are a huge anco fan overall then it should be at the very least enjoyable.

Don't forget that the reviewer said that their friend really enjoyed the record and how it was structured, even though the reviewer themself didn't in particular. He even still said that the album is good.

Also I agree with above, my favorite Animal Collective records took weeks of listening for me to really enjoy to the extent that I do now. No reason why it couldn't apply here; think about it

Another question for lesotho: how well does recycling work as a closer?

one of their weakest closers to be honest... there is a pretty funny sounding instrumental section at the end, but the record is definitely not going out with a bang. .

also, i'm not lying, but i'm obviously not going to freebird it and risk my job. i feel a bit bad posting about it because i don't want to ruin the hype lol. but as i said, my friend loves the record, so i'm sure a lot of you people will. but i'm slightly disappointed

! you are the hype , man !

coo coo ka choo !

estrange tho......
i suspect Recycling will be an anthem not anathema round these parts ...
.....i thought it was like a hit of nitrous 'for the road ' ....
.....nice way out the door.....
reminds me a little of some of the whackier Beach Boys jams from mid 70's
just a lot trippier....it kinda has the tranistion vibe much loved here , i note , too...
might be their trippiest & pop-y est record......

i had to listen to it a bit to figure whats going on ......its pretty nuts ....
did you listen to it more than once lesotho ?
... set & setting appropriate ?

I found first listen to the lp was overwhelming.......such a rush of information .....
.....you only catch up with it in retro-spect .....
by side 2 its less frantic and is more undulating plateaus in a really sweet way.....
it's also likeable instantly , but I think it grows quickly to something else .

- someone said they thought the lp sounded like it'd be cartoony .
I agree - in a really acidic way . bubbley breathey cartoons .

but as always ...mileage may vary ...

? why do they keep changing the flavour of coke ?

i've listen to it a couple of times. i really get what you mean when comparing recycling to whackier beach boys tracks... and it definitely has that cartoonish-vibe at the end. but yeah, it's not the sugar rush of amanita or brother sport... but maybe that's what is cool about it.

My favorite of their closers are not the ones that are like - HEY THE ALBUM'S ALMOST OVER LET'S PARTY! Gimme another Derek, Whaddit I Done, or Alvin Row and I'll be just as happy if not happier than a Brother Sport. That's played.

Of course Turn into Something is about as good of a reflective party as you could have...

wow ty, so much information... 'undulating plateaus in a really sweet way' yeah now that sounds amazing and that the first listen was 'overwhelming......such a rush of information' makes me think the album is more diverse than expected

"Weitz: The rate of change as you get older slows and the perception of time passing becomes very relative. When I think back to my early twenties, it’s very much like, “This girlfriend and then this girlfriend, then this house and this apartment.” Everything lasted for a year, or like nine months, and those experiences were so radically different that two or three years could feel like, “Jeez, I’m not even the same person.” But now it’s like a decade passed and I’m like, “I still come home to the same household.”"

We're getting close... should we be expecting the unexpected? A surprise stream of some kind perhaps? A website where if you enter the konami code you get a MIDI version of the album?

Weird, I've been on a 70s Beach Boys binge lately, unrelated to PW. I guess I'll be well-prepared!

So stoked for the album! Even the negative criticisms sound like positive things to me. Only three more weeks!
