I think it literally has to do with clicks--they are going to promo groups that more popular and up-and-coming. The 'animal collective are making a comeback' story was sold last year with Skiffs, so now they move onto other narratives. I still believe they will give it a B.N.M.
If they don't, I will finally, FINALLY, stop reading their reviews...

i think IIN is ripe for an 8.1 ... something they say is really good without designating it the special B=N=M tag... basically what they do for albums they love but don't want to be attached to discussing any further

pretty sure i'm speaking for everyone that we're just having a bit of light-hearted fun talking about meaningless crap -- i can guarantee none of us are losing any sleep over this. whatever toxicity you perceive likely has more to do with your approach than the topic at hand.

It's fully impossible for me to think outside the AC fandom delirium and consider this to be anything but a great album, however I will say that p4k giving Skiffs 8 .4/B N M and Spirit 8.9/B N M shows that it's possible to keep the positive ball rolling. Stab in the dark, I'd call it at 7.7 to 8.2.

I’m pretty blown away. I think I was expecting Time Skiffs 2 to be honest, and this is so much more than that. That was an emotionally exhausting listen. I need to have a sleep, process, and listen again before I give my thoughts properly - but wow!!

P4k review was really well done. Avoided all the cliches, talked about the new album in conversation with their own catalog and some fresh comparisons, and captures the albums sounds. Good read.
