if you're already listening to mothlight, most of the rest are on this boot in best quality:

and then there are a few others not on that boot that have decent quality youtube videos of them:

this descriptor is super over-used at this point, but Taken Buoy def has some of those um.... er, "Spirit vibes" in a way .... I feel like hes having more fun lyrically than he was for a little while? not totally sure what I mean but when it seemed like they were making more consciously "pop" records like mpp, his lyrical style became a lil more necessarily limited, and he lost some of that folkiness, but ive been seing it more with eucalyptus and the new stuff for this record... I mean even pw had this weird tin-pan-alley send-up feeling with a lot of clever stuff going on, but the imagery on Taken Boy is something I haven't seen as much of on the recent main AC records and I loooove it . this is gonna be soooo sweet. this year is strong as hell for the whole team, and will culminate in amazingly epic sets of updated Music Box material + a few new panda penned songs from the boots/shows we'll get in the fall that will contrast the pw live shows by being way more dynamics/jam/mood based than the techno-remixing, near-constant blissed out energy of the pw shows and I will b a happy bouoy

if I am being honest I don't think enough has been said about Saturdays (Again). The song is unbelievably beautiful in every aspect. It's a classic AC song imo.

I think you are right. I'm pretty sad to see not much hype at all across this forum. I know it's just a numbers thing but still I wanted pages and pages when taken boy was released.

we've officially hit the "people aren't talking enough about the upcoming release that hasn't come out yet" part of the album cycle. only 2.5 more weeks, guys.

Funny that there's more chat about the Solange album than a new Avey song. This website has finally gone full pitchfork.

really wondering how nostalgia in lemonade turns out, given the difference between seeing saturdays and taken boy live and the studio versions. not sure i can fully appreciate him recording the album onto tape until i hear the whole thing. i usually wonder how it matters when artists record onto tape then mix digitally for mostly digital release and don't really mix for analogue. not to say i dont think it will sound good or cool, i just cant really hear it yet.

Strawberry Jam had separate mixing sessions for digital and the vinyl since it was completely recorded in analog. I would guess Avey's doing the same for this?

Traditionally, I was very very into French house type stuff which led me to Chicago house and Detroit techno. That led me to Kraftwerk, but I don't listen to them much any more. Daft Punk and related acts were my one true love when I was 17 to 21 or so.
Lots of hip hop when I was a younger, from Wu Tang to Blackalicious. I don't really follow hip hop any more but I'll check out stuff like Travis Scott or whatever makes the mainstream outlets.
I love stuff like Burial and Gas. Grouper is awesome. I love jazz and especially electric era Miles. I like some dub. I like more electronic takes on that stuff like Basic Channel. Arthur Russell. The Avalanches. Some Aphex and Autechre and Squarepusher but I find it a bit dry.
In terms of bands, I don't know. I used to like Britpop stuff like Blur and Supergrass when I was younger. I was really into the Strokes in their early days. I love Steely Dan, was very into them for a while. The Band. Big Star I bloody adore. Beach Boys yep. Springsteen. Lots of 80s pop like Madonna and MJ and poppy new wave but I grew up with that.
I just don't listen to much contemporary R&B or whatever or pop these days. It doesn't speak to me, if I'm honest. The odd catchy thing I'll enjoy but I look elsewhere for new music than the charts these days.
This post reads like that 'I'm a fan of...' vid

I don't know what you mean by 'full pitchfork,' but it makes sense considering it's a quality album that just released that has tracks/contributions from Noah. You may think it's not worthwhile because you don't like it or you see it as a way to boost her 'indie cred,' which is kind of a telling thing to assume, just because she's a more popular artist. It's worth talking about, but that thread will probably die at 2 pages. I for one am trying to avoid listening to any other tracks or really talking about Cows until it comes out, I imagine there's plenty of people out there who are doing the same. Pretty awesome it's less than 3 weeks away.

I mean...It used to be a fairly regular comment on this forum that AC were no longer of any interest to Pitchfork which had rebranded itself as the champions of hip-hop/R&B/'urban'/MOBO/whatever. The joke is that this website, an AC fan website, has finally spent more time discussing an R&B record than the new Avey Tare song. Of course I don't mean it because it's a completely isolated example which therefore gave rise to the joke. It can't be serious because there's only one such example. The joke is that it's a gross exaggeration. Funnee.

Sorry if this is more suited for the live thread (although a nice distraction from the solange hate?) but I’m wondering if anybody has seen Avey Tare live in the recent era and if he has copies of down there on vinyl? atm the only copies i can find in the Internet is an eBay auction coming out of Germany.

I agree. It's really snuck up on me as I definitely liked it as soon as I heard it but it didn't wow me or anything. But I find it's a regular go-to when I'm on the bus on the way to uni or something, and I've racked up almost 100 listens already.
The bit where the beat sneaks back in (someone described it well early in the thread) in the second half of the song, and the fact that the beat is a bit quirky, is super juicy to me every listen.
Taken Boy is also beautiful and brings back nostalgia of classic AC (not that new AC aint great) but seems more like the kind of song that will be great during an album listen but not a go-to single when I want that instant gratification baby yeah

ya thats like amazing its only 2 weeks away (and not a liberated avian at that??)
LOVE short album release window/announcements or however I should phrase that. this will be the soundtrack to my spring break which like it does NOT seem like a spring break record, tho it doesn't rlly NOT seem like a spring record? not as autumnal as DT but probably leaning towards that. guess ill have a super plaintive and mellowed break. tho I honestly still don't know what the overall vibe of this will be... only heard mayan live and the singles....soooo still kind open ended. it just vaguely seems like the most ideal avey sound I can picture.
back in the day for me that was From a Beach or Slow Words, but I can l let sleeping dogs lie..

Domino's shit tier employees are really letting us down here. Noah's album freebirded like three months in advance. Have some damn respect for Dave and get the fuckin record out there. How must he be feeling about this?!

so..
i had a dream where Dave had posted on his FB page a little textbook photo of prehistoric ocean floor animals and had little facts about them, like a middle school science textbook drawing. there was a message in a bottle and very faintly you can pick out what it read and it was a website for the Music Box Village pre-order/download on Vinyl/DVD. That was the little initial marketing plot for MBV by Dave and i was so stoked in my dream I went on here and nobody was talking about it, so I made a post about it and sure enough everyone was all freaked by it. I'm super excited and need to go on a walk before I sweat bullets into my shirt just by sitting on the computer, so I go outside and I see my copy of Cows On Hourglass Pond just came, 2 weeks early.
I freaked, and ran inside, and went to my record player and right when the needle hit the record I woke up.
I came on here right when I woke up and nothing was going on aside from Stan sword fighting with Domino about a Lynyrd Skynyrd song title to con them into freebirding the record..
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever posted on the internet for AC and I'm waiting for my dance party RSVPs now.
Nevertheless, surprised it hasn't freebirded either. I'm so glad it hasn't seeing as like, everything else has minus MOTW(that was just a rip, yeah?) i'm just incredibly stoked to listen to it when I get it on record, so much to the point i'm dreaming about it. Can't stop listening to Taken Boy and Saturdays.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk everyone. <3 you stan
