Damn it really does seem Deaks is out for this cycle. Hopefully he really is trying to finish his record. But that kind of makes me even more excited about new AC. That's a powerful trio. Danse and MPP.

I mean, it's inarguably close. Even Sung Tongs and Prospect Hummer have some flourishes of electronics.

It's the way they've always operated. Avey and Panda are the only members who've been a part of every release

I know they've always been fluid with their lineup, but he's now out 2 out of the last 3 albums. you're right, it probably is nothing, but idk

This record has electronics. They went back afterwards and added ambient sound from the land around them. Wind, storms, crickets, for example.

this is just silly. Deakin's been friends with Panda since they were 12 or something. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. just cause he's not on every album, doesn't mean he's a "part time member"

Having Deak sit out the record is interesting though. It means they're most likely not returning to a band setup. Off the back of Greaper and Slasher Flicks I think we could be looking at some sick jams too. Melodies that melt your ears.
Or I could just keep peddling the idea that they're definitely making a techno record.

If they had to go back and explore the sounds from one of their ealier albums again which era would you guys choose? Personally I'd have to say Feels. There's just so much more that they could do with that type of electronic-acoustic style.

There are pictures from earlier this year that show the guys in a studio in Asheville without Josh. Also, it doesn't make sense that they would schedule studio/rehearsal time for dates that didn't work out for everyone involved.

does this mean they're recording new stuff before playing it live? have they ever done that before?

i don't see them going back to ear bleeding high frequencies or freer form stuff, but i could see them having an approach similar to danse of exploring a lot of different stylings.

That studio they went to in nc looks like they have a lot of modular synth type instrument there. Would be pretty cool if they are using modulars for there new record.
