I think it needs to get worse. I’d love to see this on a shitty VHS transfer

Print a 16mm negative, use it as blotter paper, cut each frame into a tab and distribute.

also, everyone who maybe posts up here but doesn't always go down to the Music sub-forum, go post your top 20-100 albums of the decade in next 4 days, cutoff on 31st for tapped to aggregate them all. go go go. rep for AC if you want, or throw them under the bus!

I dare someone to put up a top 20 with exclusively ac/ac solo releases..

can't stop thinking of these two ruby-eyed avey lines:

come and join me in the speakers there's a ruby in your eyes
now i've seen eyes that look like rubies i've watched them do their crimson crying

anybody have any more earth shattering lyrical and/or thematic connections? i'm about to revisit the entire discography and create a comprehensive chart of god knows what

I've been writing some stuff about AC, and I have some historical questions, so I hope no one minds me repeatedly fishing for trivial answers in this thread. First, is the source of the first sample of Spirit they've vanished known? The last sample I believe is confirmed to be abby (that sounds more like a home video recording where as this sounds like something older), but the first one sounds to be from another source. It's not Sparky, maybe another mel-o-toon lol. Couldn't find it by googling or whosampled.

Considering the tone of this interview, I doubt he had a huge part in the production.

love how deakin has really come so far with his vocal ability and songwriting to the point where we now get tracks from avey, panda, and deakin in an album cycle (side note: would be neat if there was one instrumental, geo-lead song per album cycle too, like sundown for cecil in the music box set). it's even cooler that they all have such distinct voices/lyrics from each other too. avey's is psychedelic and childlike, deakin's spiritual and intimate and unassuming, and panda has that rich, angelic, shiny, candy-like voice. all have their own distinct voice and it's really cool. what a great band

The “do you want to hear a secret? I know one” is one of the phrases from a Mrs Beasley doll from the 1960s. I don’t know if this one was known before but I ran across it in a YouTube video
And the “my singing voice is gone” is from a Mr Magoo Christmas special cartoon that’s also from the 60s I think

this is the origin of "my singing voice is gone " is ^that Sparky's Magic Echo, of the Mel-o-toons series, Mr Magoo is the origin of the name of the album. Thank you much for the opening sample one though. I guess I might add it to whosampled for posterity, AC's page seems to missing a lot, although I guess you need the actual sample instead of say, a reference from an interview.

turns out Deakin & Geo did do a full score. Crestone (feature debut from Marnie Ellen Hertzler) will be screening at SXSW and True/False Film Festival
wrote:
In a world that undulates between fact and fiction, digital and physical, a group of SoundCloud rappers lives a solitary, post-societal existence in the desert town of Crestone, Colorado. Once a religious and spiritual mecca for many, Crestone’s endless sand dunes, waterfalls, and dark caves act as a backdrop for images of tattooed bodies, cosplay wardrobes, and clouds of weed smoke. "Crestone" explores the often hidden aspects of collaboration and friendship as well as the human desire to persist against all odds. What does music sound like if there is no one left to repost and share it?

wrote:
As the world hurtles towards the end times, young SoundCloud rappers descend on Crestone, Colorado, a tiny desert town that is central to a surprising number of spiritualities. Guided by a man who goes by the name of Sloppy (sloppy919 if you’re on SoundCloud), they form a modern commune within which they grow weed, play video games, and create music for the ether. These affable young men are high school friends of director Marnie Ellen Hertzler, who creates a dazzling group portrait that manages to be both utterly contemporary and also post-apocalyptic. In this debut feature, Hertzler invents a playful new cinematic language at the intersection of Documentary and Vine – and delivers a key text for those interested in the Millennial generation and its warped relationship with reality. Has the internet destroyed us, and if so, is there any hope for redemption?

Deakin was just live-streaming some gardening on Instagram with the Grateful Dead playing in the background. I watched for a few minutes and found it to be quite relaxing.
