I was trying to say that if you're familiar at all with digital audio files/quality then you'll notice it sounds shitty in some areas. To some laymen blasting it out of a bluetooth speaker it'll sound fine

I think he is referring to when Centipede Hz freebirded, a lot of the high end detail was lost because it was a 128 kbs rip that was upsampled and reprocessed to be "320 kbs". looking at spectral graphs you could tell there was a ton of data in the higher frequencies missing because it would completely cap out around between 12khz-14khz, everything above that was seemingly missing. there was also a noticeable difference once we got the official releases. so noticeable in fact it completely changed my opinion on some tracks (I remember Rosie Oh being a huge one).

For sure. If it's ripped properly it should sound nearly as good as a CD, regardless of the type of file it is (mp3, etc). Obviously there's a lot steps that can go wrong in the ripping process. But i'm psyched for it and psyched to A/B the singles to see what quality we're working with
