not even a real interview. not an interview with the pffr guy, just an "interview" with the male cgi character.

I'm a longtime sporadic lurker here, but I'm especially excited after hearing the samples a few times and want a place to share some initial thoughts. Based on the samples, I'd say this is at least shaping up to be their funniest album. The end of the Hocus Pocus sample is so inexplicably goofy and it makes me laugh whenever I hear it. Summing the Wretch is a grinner as well.

Panda's Boys Latin vocal trick is pretty neat but, based on the samples, it seems just a bit like overkill, even if the style is suited to the "homogenous" vibe they're apparently going for. Lying In The Grass and Spilling Guts are nice but sound like the flattest tracks to me. Of course, this is just based on low quality samples so who knows, those may end up my favorites.

The tracks that excite me the most seem to align with the consensus. Vertical, The Burglars, Bagels in Kiev, Summing the Wretch. Bagels in Kiev and The Burglars especially seem to have outstanding atmospheres and melodies.

I've been trying to resist getting caught up in the whole hoping it freebirds thing. But at this point, I'm really anxious and excited to listen to this. Sounds like a very "up" album and I'm glad they're releasing it in miserable February.

Also, Golden Gal sounds like it's from a 90's educational children's video.

I feel this way about almost all of Panda's song, especially the ones with the weird vocal arangements. strong early learning/education music vibes.

I'm hoping they'll do a repressing of the 7 inch, it seems like a lot of people missed it

Hate to say it but I don't think I've ever seen Domino repress any deluxe related products.

I just ordered a Geo cover Deluxe from the Dommino website. Pretty dumb of me in terms of my finances right now. I'm sure I won't care come Feb 19th about the 40 bucks I didn't have this week.

Purchased the Geo cover as planned, but nothing worse than waiting until the last minute. Thanks Andrew for the Domino heads up.

I would like to get the Deluxe LP but I really can't afford it at the moment. I just want to hear that 7", but I am sure I will hear it at some point even without the vinyl.

obviously when you go to a record store when this comes out you can get whatever cover you want, right? just won't get the 7", slipmat etc....

Can't forget about the precious stickers.

Re: Painting With

the AC store site actually says the standard lp will include the stickers:
wrote:
The standard LP edition includes:

Randomly assigned 1 of 3 album covers as painted by Brian DeGraw

LP jacket and inner sleeve printed on heavy cardboard stock

MP3/16-bit or 24-bit WAV download card

Sticker sheet that includes the album title in a variety of languages

seems like the difference is mainly the slipmat and 7". it's possible that only the deluxe is 180g, as the standard doesnt list that, but who knows.

They have to be releasing these two songs digitally right? I didn't preorder the vinyl and I would be pretty crushed if there was no way for me to own those songs.
