man getting back into these guys after a long tolerance break has been incredible.

im trying to avoid live versions of the time skiffs songs so i can hear the album fresh next week, but been bumpin gem and i and magicians every day. two of the best new songs ive heard in years. still holdin off on defeat cause i listened once a few years ago and have a vague memory of it being incredible that i dont wanna spoil.

but yeah, do people generally like the time skiffs material more than what might become lp2? cause what ive heard of lp2 is really fucking incredible and probably better than the singles dropped so far...

anyway, genuinely anticipating a new animal collective release feels so good.

edit: changed my mind already. singles are obviously very good as well.

I listened to almost all of the solo albums last night in anticipation and some of them hit so hard because it's been a minute since I put them on. AC fans are spoiled! We have too many amazing albums to choose from

it was my understanding the "first real animal collective album in however many years" actually means the first animal collective album with all four hands on deck, which they were not for tangerine reef

But all the reviews are saying first AC album since Painting With, which didn't have all four members. I'm not really sure I fault the reviewers though, as much as I enjoy TR, I do sort of feel like it's not a "proper" studio album like CHz, PW, etc. Part of that is because it has the movie component, and part of it is that it was just a live in-studio recording, not really the same kind of studio creation as their other albums.
