This song is so crazy catchy. It's knocked the usual earworms out of my head
Anyone have the lyrics? "An empty space?"

i'm gonna take it step by step
there is some kind of poison and disorder
so i'm gonna break on past the border
feels like there's something in the air
i found a reason to stay and then it faded away
and i'm already on, on my way out
as i try to find a new way forward
an empty space that i am goin for
as i try to find a new way forward
feels like there's something in the air
i found a reason to stay and then it faded away
and i'm already on, on my way out
i found a reason to stay and then it faded away
and i'm already on, on my way out
i'm gonna take it step by step
i can feel the ground beneath me moving
feels like there's something in the air
i think i found a reason to stay
and then it faded away
and i'm already on, on my way out
i found my reason to stay
i'm gonna take it step by step by step by step

its about being evil which is what panda literally always sings about
but no this is one of them there like totally classic tunes, how is this a new song, surely someone came up with these exact lyrics/melodies in a studio in like 1972, no?
He just plucked this shit out of the ether, fully formed, always existing. What a pro, he can just pen an all-time pop classic like nothing, as a feature

it's a sequel to the Hoobastank song

I guess braxe and falcon had a fair hand in writing, right? like probably the main hook, and a good bit of the melody. maybe not most of the lyrics. idk how these collaborations work but that's my assumption

I often listen to different sequences/playlists of pb's remixes just like this. He's been cranking every one out of the park. Not sure what the demarcation between earlier era pb remixes and "current" era remixes would be, but Cheap Treat certainly doth slap along with Never Ending Game, Studie, Woo!, and now Step By Step.

i know youre joking but my actual interpretation of the general thing you are referring to is that he deals with intrusive thoughts. some lyrics and things he said in interviews during buoys era had made me think that previously, and then never ending game came out and those lyrics really sound so much like someone who deals with intrusive thoughts/obsessive thought patterns. could be totally way off of course but never ending game in particular really makes me think that

Thematically the album is concerned with the way that our impulses “can lead us down unsavory roads” but Lennox says that there is also “an admission that there is an evil inside me” and that he attempted “to embrace those impulses.”
“I'm revealing stuff about myself that almost feels more personal than”—and here he strums an invisible guitar and adopts a sad voice—“‘I had a really hard day / I’m really sad about this.’” It’s why Buoys offers us our best look at Lennox: instead of skimming the surface, we’re jumping into the deepest, dankest corners of his mind to discover what he spends all day fretting over (“Where our impulses come from, how maybe they started as something functional but after so much time left unchecked they can drive us into habits that are really unsavory”) or the anxious thoughts that keep him up at night (“The obsession with wealth”).
yeah i think that's the one, was also thinking of an interview from that era where he says the 'slap on a jelly ass' line is about like when sexual thoughts abruptly pop into your head

Considering how often that line will literally pop up in my head at random since I first heard it and I'll basically have to repeat it to get it out, yeah Mr Bear did an effective job representing us anxiety/ADHD/ocd/whatever havers

Interesting find, I snooped around in the description and theres a segment of the video called Part Of The Math. And if you click the "Soundtrack" playlist apparently the song People turns up at some point. Too lazy to watch the hour long video myself and find it tho

ya I'm kinda figuring this radio debut and the white label 12"s are like a 'soft launch' of the track (for the heads), ahead of actual press that will properly push this release, presumably in april sometime
