Found it!

Ironically it's one of my favorite videos by him because it goes into Highlife music and Talking Heads and Vampire Weekend.

I hated Disintegration Loops even before I heard his opinion on it, but I like his bluntness about that shit.

capitalist pig!

well, they're just a product of their environment. you can blame them or the system that controls them if you wanna be upset about it. but at the same time, if it weren't for capitalism and a search for profit by the internet's music sites you probably wouldn't have father john misty to reinforce the idea that you "get it"

I was just thinking about this the other day, Lablakely Dress has at least 3 different versions (danse, acoustic, fireworks version) right?

Is that the most a song has been reworked by them?

Hollindagain, too! That's my favourite, in fact. Terrifying but comforting, like a lonely heartbroken ghost, fresh on the other side, giving you a hug. Brrrrrrrr! I think only Preakness has worn so many different costumes.

Edit: The first time I saw Partario in LAY, I could hardly breathe. Well overdue a rewatch.

mm yeah, insult my comments with no real backing. how morally wrong is it to take info from a PUBLIC message board and giving them to a wider audience? you and many others on this board care wayyyy too much about shit like that. sure looking for profit over morality is wrong, but I don't see how what stereogum is doing is wrong

Look Around You, a comedy from Pete Serafinowicz and Robert Popper, very British but absolutely superb. Partario was just a throwaway joke in the show, needs context.

Lablakely acoustic was in the Other Music set, though I only realised that recently despite listening to it a hundred times!

Are there more than three versions of Winter's Love? Studio, OG Live and MPP era live? I might be missing another live version.

Doggy also has three versions. Campfire, Sleeper Factory and Hey Light.

Banshee, I only know studio, OG Live and super slo-mo depth charge bleeps MPP era live.

I guess Taste has OG/BBC, studio, Takeaway shopping trolley (though arguably OG) and 'dubstep' live update, which I think I've only heard once or twice.

Probably another thread in this.

U ignored my question Helman

oh, to your "get what?" question: i was referring to the holier than thou mentality that a lot of fjm fans carry. as far as calling me helman... that's cool i guess. i'm just a college student, but if you want to believe that the only person who doesn't agree with you is the author of the article and the capitalist pigs at stereogum then whatever (but i'd think that after intaking all of that father john philosophy you'd understand that sometimes people simply disagree with you). also, for the record fjm is fine, just overhyped and i get annoyed listening to people talk about him

chores has
1. studio version + played the same way live
2. slowed down first verse version (09 paradiso boot)
3. panda's people party staggered "go to sleep nadja" version
4. panda's "i think i can/chores" live hybrid (which i'm sad ATP never released the soundboard recording of but they did for Bros...)

i guess these are much similar to each other tho since the same rhythmic sample is used in all of them

**i started this post saying "i was just thinking about this the other day" and didn't realize you said the exact same sentence lol

I'll might end up listening to it wherever i am when its released, but it would be cool to plan a little and create the conditions for a more intimate experience with it.. Hearing about the floating candles and little pools and caveman vibes has me wanting to experiment with setting up a space to listen to this album. Would love to go out in nature but i'm in Philly and its cold so might try to recreate the space it was created in based on my understanding.

But oh snap i forgot their playing here live the day it comes out so... thats awesome:)

Yep, don't know why people keep falling for it.

Honestly, I find him/her to be pretty funny (for the most part). Maybe some people aren't very familiar with trolls?

A coworker of mine is dudes with on of the bros, and therefore he got an advanced copy of Painting With. He couldn't give me a copy (respect) but he let me listen to it on my lunch break an it was amazing. Seriously such a great record. Sonically it reminded me a lot of the Water Curses EP. The playfulness in the vocal swapping brought me back to Sung Tongs and Feels. Still, it's got a new vibe all it's own. I only got to listen once but everything was very immediate. This albums going to be a classic. I can't wait to play it a million times.

Summing The Wretch, Burglars, and Vertical really hit me. I feel like Summing the Wretch is going to be a favorite for lots of people. There was a lot to absorb in just one listen though.

Sweet, yeah, the samples sound great for those ones. Are there a lot of dynamics and changes in most of the tracks?

Yeah for sure. I haven't listened to the samples but I imagine they can't even come close to giving a full image of the crazy places all these songs go. Lots of dynamic shifts/ change ups. So many sweet vocal melodies, so much vocal interplay.

This is awesome! Happy you got to hear it and really enjoyed it. . What kind of feelings did the record give you? I get that each album explores a diversity of feelings, and each record might "hit" each of us as unique individuals in subjectively different ways, but are there things that you think people might clearly experience with this album? like, Feels is pretty high on the "love" feeling and merriweather is "lagoony"; I love the "playful" characteristic you described, that comes across on the single and the samples. But i dunno, what was your experience?
