it's so hard for me to hear the second voice at the end of walker as anyone but Panda. Like it's so clearly his cadences and inflections, but idk why they would lie in the music video.

At this point, I've just accepted it's Deakin doing his best Panda his impression

Are we talking about the outro? That is very clearly all Avey to these ears. Also the others mouthing the words in the video doesn’t mean they’re lying about who sang on record lol

Been giving it everything I got each day to Will it into happening. Even assembled my stereo that’s been in storage since I moved in 2019 in preparation. Gonna try putting it in the prayer intentions box at the church down the street and see if it deaks

I wasn't trying to make any arguement, I just wanted to point out something fun I noticed in the video pertaining to the conversation at hand.

As a die hard fan who also loves film I could nerd out for hours about who plays/sings what in the two videos and if it's musically accurate or that way for visual simplicity. Honestly, when I finally caught Avey and Deakin singing in the video I was super excited, then I thought "deak?" And a second later I was fine with it. I could absolutely be wrong, and I guessing one day they'll answer and that'll be nice, won't it?

As someone who is extremely arguementive I've found them rarely helpful in situations like this. Disagreements can be fine tho, right? Can we NEVER discuss the topic again without possibility enlightening others of something that could only come from your perspective as a fan? I'd like to think that being wrong can be humblingly, and sometimes I don't practice what I preach, but I hope we can learn to disagree, let the mystery stay, admit when we're wrong, let the little things go without "taking the toys away."

With that said, reguardless of who is singing the pinging pong voices, the effect, and the softness remind me of Sung Tongs sooooo much. For that matter, the slide guitar at the beginning of Strungs sounds like the the voice that abruptly starts Winter Wonderland. Sorry, I don't get to post too often, again I used to have more dogs in fights like this, calmed down at the ripe old age of 35...

It sounds so much like Avey, but maybe one of the other guys is affecting their voice to sound like him in the right channel. With the effect on the voice it is pretty distorted. But I find it difficult to hear anyone but Avey in the Walker outro

deakin singing it in the video is really throwing me off

edit: plus it seems like avey has a huge insistance on having the other guys do any vocals and not doubling himself (based on that passerby DM). we've already heard panda doubling himself on Walker in the last chorus (the highest harmony above him and Deakin) but I think Avey isn't gonna be singing with himself on this record unless it's maybe double tracking. maybe on we go back or cherokee during the bridge

I feel like this album is going to pair really well with Mount Eerie's Sauna. Similar kind of medieval sounds and themes paired with more existential stuff. Both have a sort of humidity to their sound (though it's a lot thicker on Sauna, rightly so). I swear it's deeper than the fact that one has a song called "Dragon" and the other "Dragon Slayer"

It's also going to pair so nicely with Big Thief's record that comes out a week later, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. It's been so frustrating experiencing my anticipation via the slow trickle of singles for both albums.

Been trying so hard to hold off on the singles for that! Especially didn’t want to hear what it sounded like when they finally recorded Spud Infinity but my fiancée played it in the car so I’ve had that spoiled. Still, 20 songs is plenty to absorb on first listen.

also half a page late with this but I too only hear Panda on Walker proper (and avey-on-avey in outro).

Sometimes I think they really do be singing like each other or trying to sing in a more anonymous way or something. Like I can't really hear what the other voices on SWE are at all (so far). I vaguely wish I could tell it was Avey or Deak singing backup on Walker so I know for sure its a AC song and dont think its a weird acoustic-y Greaper leftover. I just want to know, yknow

Pretty sure it's just Deak and Panda during the harmony section of Walker, I hear Avey and Panda during the outro but who knows.

The opening verses of SWE I'm like 100% sure is Avey harmonizing with himself. That miiight be an autotuned Panda in the background of the "I've got this world (I think)" section? And all the backup stuff in the second half sounds like Deak to me, tho I'm sure Panda is in there too.

SWE verses harmony is almost definitely Panda! You can hear him most clearly on the “fresh sneakers in Babylon get dirty” imo. For the chorus “the suns no better off lately” section listen to the highest harmony- I think it’s in the left ear- and that’s panda belting. Such a cool sound to hear all three of them with deak in the middle
