If you direct message them on fb or instagram they might respond, especially on instagram ppl have been successful doing that in the past

I used to think that I was the ultimate Animal Collective fan but I can only conclude that it's yoko bono. Real talk, I would put myself as top thirty in the world, though.

Coincidentally enough, their press agent or red bull academy something or other contacted me today via the ca bandcamp. He wants to talk about the board and mpp era for the ten year anniversary. More to come.
I have more anecdotes if you want to milk me. At avey's birthday show, my sis was chillaxing back at the bar, chatting. It turned out to be Dave's family.

whoa nice, that's cool that they're including CA if they're publishing a story about MPP or something. Someone needs to recount the infamous 08 xmas freebird (which I was sadly not present for)

Whoever superspookyghost is on the reddit seems pretty legit. They're full of all kinds of musings, facts, and trivia

I wouldn't say I am the biggest fan at all. I love too much music to be a fan of one specific artist. I have had fairly deep obsessions with sonic youth, bjork, mount eerie, and ac. I really only frequent this board because y'all are the nicest people in the world and have the best taste in music. honestly since oddsac I have only been stoked on deakin and tangerine.
Ive only seen ac 3x and panda once, whereas i have seen sonic youth and members and microphones/mt eerie at least a dozen times each. Followed them deadhead style. Those were some adventures.

actually i'm the biggest fan, the opener for a panda bear show i went to a few years ago gave me his number and i never called it, pretty sure that means i'm like the fifth member of AC

nice try guys but I'm the biggest fan. proof pic, circled myself
Logged on during my commute to work just to let you know that at this point, Sleep Cycle is the best album of ththe decade. And that my unhealthy devotion to the music of AC makes me the biggest fan on planet queso
Edit: Lets just say IF i were filthy rich... would it be frowned upon to privately press Campfire Songs onto like 150 LPs and give them out to takers on the forum(s)? I just really cant *bear* it being the main missing piece of my collection
Another edit: Thinking about a vinyl release of Campfire Songs gets me super giddy.. im imagining a nice cardboard gatefold jacket, v minimal but sturdy, inside gatefold having some nice illustrations hand-drawn by avey... 180g disc... delicious

I'd just like to point out the fact that it is officially Down There season. Thank you Dave for making one of my favorite albums of all time (hands down my favorite Halloween album) and giving The Violet Hour by The Clientele a run for the money as the dreamiest slab of pure October ever committed to tape.

I'm pretty sure I read earlier that the artwork for the album was created by one (or more) of you guys...
I recently stumbled onto artwork made by Henry Darger and its almost scary how similar it is. Obviously not as twisted or dark, but the feeling is there so to speak.
Avey:
Yes surprisingly everyone that interviews us now asks about that. Ive been a fan of dargers stuff for some time now but didnt really have it in mind when i made the cover. I found a childrens educational guide on the street and thought some of the images fit the sound and the lyrics perfectly (kind of how i felt about the original spirit album cover when i ripped that off too) so i cut them up and used them. I guess the similarity is there because darger taught himself to draw by tracing similar images and magazine cut outs etc. Theres a sweet documentary about him called "in the realms of the unreal"...atleast i think thats what it is called. You can probably rent it if you have access to a decent video store....
If you like more personal or outsider visual art and writings maybe you should check out stuff by adolf wolfie or robert walser as well. Both guys are really cool and had interesting lives as well.
Davey

I LOVE the idea of halloween/October being an artistic genre in and of itself. Gonna check out that Clientele album but what other albums could be described in this way? Besides slasher flicks hehe
