hey guys it's the Reddit guy here, I just wanted to say I'm getting some serious neg vibes here and I'm pretty new. Just wanna saw that we should all just love each other and be nice and everybody will be happy. just hug people you know?
and vegats I know you were only joking but what u said really hurt my feelings, I was only trying to get a laugh outta you guys, I didn't mean to upset anyone
What the hell, really, I mean this is prefect, I have not laughed so hard in weeks. First you do it for a laugh and then you get hurt when the response is spot on perfect, you all need to chill and laugh at the things that are not important.

At first I was like yo you are out of whack blaming it on animal collective... But then the more i thought about it, the more I agreed with you. The whole point of press releases and cryptic early announcements is to create a prolonged state of anticipation among fans. It's an advertising tactic. Since we really don't have much to discuss about the album itself except one song, 30 sec samples, album art and track listing, and since this thread is necessarily about discussing the album, it devolves into this. It's not a bad thing, it's just a pretty organic thing to happen though. Past releases we had more to discuss. The discussions being the way they are this time around, is not necessarily a result of some change in the community, but by design. By animal collective's design.

there is one interview where pb says something abt how a lyrical theme on the album or something is about like working out hard shit and talking abt more difficult things related to like the band members' relationship? (cite). so ya i rlly do think this is exactly what they want and they may or may not be watching this thread a la puppet guy from Saw franchise... perhaps theyll be sampling choice quotes of various member's meltdowns on this thread for the Summing the Wretch video. they're forcing us to 'work shit out' all whilst putting the album on a ridic pedestal by thinking of the lp as an actual panacea to our own psychological shortcomings which it may or may not actually be. damn ac smh

The "ignoring the troll" mentality does not make that type of shit go away. Just saying.

Is it possible to partially trash a thread? Like trash the last 5 pages?

The Burglars sounds like a really playful comic book song.

Anyone else have a feeling floridada will be pretty different live? I'm thinkin it will be played a tad slower and sound more stripped down(tho thats obvious). I think it'd be neat if they extrended the break/wipeout sample into a short/compact little ambient moment before jumping right back into the bridge.

Yesssss. When I first heard the bathroom flac, I was instantly reminded of the Power Puff Girls. I really hope the whole album keeps that cartoony-feel when it comes out.
Didn't they say the Oddsac book was meant to have a coffee table book vibe to it? Because I think it does.

I'm really interested to hear John Cale's contribution to this. I wonder how he got into them/what albums he digs, hopefully some more info about this collab comes out. AC really understands how to keep it fresh, bringin in new folks and challenging themselves like the thing about them using saxophones.
a lot of these paintings look like what I imagine the album will sound like
You really think it will be this colorful? Or busy? Isn't this closer to CHz, in expanse if not necessarily color?

As far as the live set up goes I feel like it will be mostly samplers, maybe Avey playing a synth. I don't really hear any "traditional" instruments, ie guitar/drum kit, in the samples. After the Chz tour it makes sense to do something more stripped down in terms of stage production too, hence the smaller venues. Whatever it is, should be awesome!

I'd be pretty surprised if Recycling was instrumental. Since Feels, every closing track on an AC album (and almost all of Panda/Avey solo stuff) has been an upbeat and climactic song, and while it's not impossible to achieve that with an instrumental song, it doesn't seem as likely.
And its one of the longer songs on the album, if it was instrumental I would think it would be more like ~2 minutes.
its not instrumental .
i'd say i hear at LEAST two voices.....
How is this not more hyped up board people!! David Noah John Cale trio!

I highly doubt John Cale sings on this album.
Wasn't it mentioned he plays in hocus pocus? Not sure if he appears anywhere else

Clearly AnCo are hacks who just rip off Kenny Loggins.

Ok. That's it, almost everybody on this thread just has to be a complete asshole every time I post anything. Be it light humour, or intellectual discussion... you all just can't resist being complete prick. How did this one manage to go completely over your head? Your precious band has a theme that was executed before in an awesome music video from 1985, and the humor in that somehow escapes you.

Chill out man. I think he was going along with your joke...
Also I agree that that music video is pretty awesome and I do see the relevance to Painting With. It's definitely an 80s era sound, but the color and poppy-ness to the music and aesthetic seems in line with what AC is trying to pull off
If Animal Collective releases a video as good as that, color me pleased

So, almost no new info, except now we know Deakin departs for doing his solo thing.
