Don't really think this thing is gonna freebird that soon, but here's a stray thought about Strung: the line "fresh sneakers in Babylon get dirty" is so Andy Partridge it's wild. Everything from the melody and delivery of the line to the lyric itself. Feels like something off of English Settlement maybe.

The They'll move East line also reminds me a lot of early Modest Mouse, Beach side Property or Novocain Stain have similar motifs I think.

After binging it on the day of release I've been abstaining from Strung (and the other singles too) so I can savour it as part of the full album, and honestly the aftermath of only listening to it for a day is really interesting. It's like when you hear the most beautiful music you've ever heard in a dream, only for it to fade hours if not minutes after waking, only leaving a few traces in your memory - except I know these traces aren't too good to be true, and that in very little time at all they'll become part of a whole glorious new context. Just two more weeks to go....

i'm also holding off on listening to strung with everything more than the one time so far. that debut experience was too precious to repeat and wear out before the album even drops, and i've already done that with prester john and walker... not that i still don't love those two, but strung was on a whole 'nother level of joy and excitement. i don't even wanna see the gatefold or anything. i should probably dip out of here until the vinyl arrives, but i'm a creature of habit, and there are always other topics to peruse, at least until i click into this topic again without thinking and everyone's heard the potential future freebird and is discussing it, then i'm really taking a break

confirmed my suspicions on this one... i've been at peace for a few months that they were going to tone down the bombast on the climax. it'll be just right. they'll save the fireworks for potential live versions down the road.

sounds like they toned down Passer By and Cherokee, but still i need not worry, seems like this album is going to be subtle in the best ways. and still the reddit guy only listened to it twice. just sayin it takes a while for some AC songs to grow. even Walker was a long grow for me but i love it so much now, especially in context of the songs before it

Music like this is legit better the more compressed it is- it’s about the 2D/narrative of the arrangement more than the 3D shape of the mix

We would all be a lot better off if we could just experience music as the pure idea of arrangement, mixing moves the variables of what music can be into truly chaotic territory
