It's kinda neat that this the band's first single LP since hcti. SJ is only a lil bit longer than PW, but still split into 2 LPs, so this'll be a nice change up after so many 2xLPs

Yeah the 2LPs thing is odd to me. Strawberry Jam needed that just because of the segueing structure of the album, but it's the sort of thing where it's like "no this isn't a double album, it just has two discs, you fucking idiot"

Well the longer an album is, the more songs you have to pack into a single side of an LP, and the songs towards the middle might sound worse due to inner groove distortion, which largely depends on physical mechanics of the record player you own so maybe having 2 LP's means that less songs get closer to the middle of an LP disc and produce a more consistent sound quality for as many people as possible

The problem with reddit is that it encourages trolls, who are known to get a bigger charge out of that sort of thing than, say, smart people. The problem is that these positive accolades, like "upvotes," or whatever, that are meant to regulate behavior libertarian-style don't um work.

Nope. No recent hollindagain vinyl reissue either. I imagine those will eventually come if AC continues to gain popularity, but Dominoe will probably have to work out a deal with catsup plate or something.



On a seperate note, I like that Gnip Gnop is included with the deluxe purchase, considering I'd be less likely to buy it if it was sold separately. Pretty excited for that!

With 180, it's very easy to master records without distortion or loss of quality, regardless of what part of the record the groove is cut into. Less warping and whatnot.

LPs were designed with a 25 minute maximum per each side, which Strawberry Jam could have easily held if they decided to break up the segue between "For Reverend Green" and "Fireworks", which I'm glad they didn't do 'cos that would a been hella dumb. But why not make Side D an etching like side B of the "Fireworks" single? I always loved that segue between "Winter Wonderland" and "Cuckoo Cuckoo", and it isn't as if the last 4 tracks even came close to approaching the 25 minute limit. (It was 15 minutes total, if I remember correctly).

It just confuses me a bit. But take this bullshit I just posted with a grain of salt, as I do not own this album on vinyl.

^ i think it still comes out in higher quality when stretched across 2 sides even though it's only 15 minutes or whatever. the 3 side/1 w etching would be cool as well. I doubt that the quality be be decreased significantly if #1 - Derek were all on one side. I have several records that do the etching approach on side d. Some of my dad's older records just have blank side d's. no etching, music, nothing.

Okay, I need to get this out of my system.

I've been on CA since 2007 to varying degrees of posting/lurking, but have always pretty actively checked in even when I wasn't posting much. I've done the same on several other boards here and there, and always found that CA had one of the better communities and somehow seemed to be free of all the negative emotion and egregious shit-talking I've seen elsewhere (the Coachella board is a good example, where every other post is some kind of "fuck you").

It's always been nice that CA was the one place that seemed above all of that frankly childish attitude. People of course disagree here, but it's really impressive how civil and level-headed it remains. For example, I don't always agree with what you post, Stan, but I really like how you articulate yourself even when I don't agree (which isn't all that often anymore) and think you seem like a great dude.

For the almost decade I've been on the various CA incarnations, I've loved the community and how we've all treated each other on here. Despite the occasional tiff here and there, it's leaps and bounds above most other boards.

So I've honestly been pretty bummed out to see specifically that this thread (and arguably now a few others) has seemed to devolve into that sort of trash. What's going on?

I'm sorry for being a wet blanket and for the super-long rant. I guess my point is that I've genuinely enjoyed coming on here to read what you all have to say, whether or not I agree, and I'd hope that CA doesn't go down the tubes and devolve into a bunch of people telling each other to fuck themselves.
