Full disclosure I haven't listened to really any of the boots, but I'm kind of rediscvoering Down There hype and I'm wondering if folks think Cows will lean in that direction musically or if he'll stay in the vein of eucalyptus?

I don't dislike Euca, but DT is so much more listenable and memorable to me. Hope its like that.

the cows songs remind me of a mixture of eucalyptus and the down there tour only songs like song for jerome and slow words

doesn't seem all that euc-y OR DT-ish, probably more like solo-version, usually more chilled-out Slasher Flicks vibe via Avery guitar sound-- as in fun poppy-ish but still kinda folk-y psych sound, less garagey tho. slightest touch of jazz maybe??? (prbly not)

its kind of my favorite mode for Avey as well, and he weirdly doesn't give us all that much... shows up on Feels, soooorta SJ, and Slasher. Euc is the ghostly, jazzy, folk/sad core version of it

like picture the later live versions of Banshee Beat or Chocolate Girl. That's kind of the best way that I want my Dave.

i dont buy the flix comparison...maybe the closest similarity is maybe a sender...but i still think they sound more like the down there tour onlys with guitar hence euca. song structures are most similar...like fuck ono lemonaide and song for jerome are practically the same structural wise.

ya kinda talking instrumentation a lil more, like this seems electric guitar heavy which flex is as well, and euc is mostly acoustic.... but my favorite slasher songs (sender, your card, catchy, modern daze, roses) seem like they could sooooorta fit with these songs if they were less garage-y, had drum loops instead of Jeremy wilding out, and were generally a bit more chill in a ambient-part-of-Feels kind of way?. but like idk doesn't matter

It was. I don't get it. Here's a chance to ask him about HIS NEW RECORD and he hardly asks him a thing. Ack! You could tell Avey wanted to talk and the interviewer preferred to share his own take on things. Interviewer couldn't even remember the name of "Saturdays (Again)." Disappointing.

oh shit, at around 41 minutes he says "most of these songs are from a set i performed at a documentary festival in copenhagen." that performance was days before the mothlight performance, identical set to the mothlight boot. maybe more songs from the mothlight boot are on the record than we already know of! (uncle donut, disc 1, redlight water show, doctor no etc)

A: "are you playing with a full band?"

AT: "I will tour with a full band actually, well, two other people who are basically Animal Collective y'know, Deakin and Jeremy who's been playing drums with us lately." :negative:

I wonder if jeremy will be on a smaller/more low key kit. I like his playing but he can be pretty bombastic

Seems like he plays pretty close to the source material when it comes to AC stuff, at least judging from the painting with tour. He was on that e drum kit and never really strayed from the written parts. But with slasher flicks there was more room to stretch out, so could go either way i guess, esp since this lineup is also a trio.

Im more curious what avey is gonna be playing. Keys and sampling? Guitar? All of the above? Would be awesome to get absorbed intoa wall of ave/deak guitar texture

PLZ PLAY JACKSON 5
