PBVSGR demos is the best Panda record OF ALL TIME ::*Kanye shrug*::
Agreed, apart from Person Pitch and Tomboy demos.

The TS2 will definitely be called Simmer Limber Over.
I also have a weird feeling that Defeat will be cut into three different tracks with smooth transitions.

I really don't think anybody wants this, it just seems like something the group/Domino would end up doing.
also glad the piss thread is reaching its hot smelly tentacles into other threads.

I want it. Forcing it onto the LP will likely cause them to trim the other songs. Also it's self contained enough that I don't see it being enhanced by sharing an album with other songs.

does Domino even have influence over what gets on an album? I know they influence single selection, but picking the tracklist seems like an overreach that AC wouldn't stand for, since they care so much about the album experience

I don't really think they have that much influence, but I feel like if they were on the fence about it some pressure from the label might push it onto an EP

If domino really chose two 6+ minutes tracks as singles for time skiffs with songs like dragon slayer or passer-by on the record, I find it hard to imagine that they'd be against having a 15+ minute song on TS2.

Honestly part of the Person Pitch charm is that most of those songs already kind of sound like demos.

If Defeat isn't on TS2 that's going to seriously hurt its chances of being called King Arthur Bread Flour

It makes no sense!
Defeat is totally era defining!
That'd be like leaving Safer or Graze off the final album...

yeah i wouldn't want a defeat ep unless it was the difference between defeat being 15 min on album or 25 min by itself, and considering they already recorded all of it, i don't think that's a factor
i appreciate deakin laying everything out so we aren't all speculating about what's recorded, when might it come out, etc
personally i would only prefer ep + lp if my least favorite songs were on the ep and my favorite songs made up the lp, and that's obviously a super subjective and also fairly unlikely thing

I really hope Defeat is around 22 mins and takes up an entire side of a record, like a lot of jazz albums do.

Side 1: 3-4 tracks
Side 2: 1 Short song or audio piece and then Defeat
Just like Genesis' classic 1972 album Foxtrot.

Honestly, I don't get closer vibes from Defeat. I think it'd work better as a centerpiece, taking up all of side C. AC has never had a closer like that before (even Alvivn Row ends jubilant imo), but I guess there'd be a first time for everything.
They already have a perfect closer for this set of songs, and it's Genies Open. But tbh I could also see that as a track 2. Whatever they do, I'll be happy

Yeah genie's would be a great closer. Kinda the same flavour as Derek though so maybe they'll take a different route

This would be kinda different
King’s Walk
Genie’s Open
Gem and I
Stride Rite
Broke Zodiac
Defeat
Soul Capturer
Magicians from Baltimore
to be clear this is not what id want necessarily. still a genies closer kinda guy

Magicians would be the weirdest closer. The little instrumental section that finishes up the song doesn't feel like the conclusion to a whole album, but rather begs for something to come directly afterwards, imo.

Curveball here but have we considered that Sundown with Cecil could be on there in some form? I could see this tracklist with SWC opening and Kings between Stride and Defeat.
edit: logic behind this is that it was left off the Music Box release and Deak said 18 tracks pre-pandemic, so minus the nine Skiffs you've got nine. Possibly ten (PBH or a newie?) if SC was written during the pandemic.

Didn't Davey say at some point that Soul Capturer was 'it's own thing' and likely wouldnt be on a full LP? Tragedy if not IMO but possibly wont be on TS2?
Magicians
Gem n I
King's
Stride Right
Broke Zode
Genie's Open
Defeat
I like this but maybe they would put Broke Zodiac just before defeat on side 2

he did but deakin said they would be recording it in december, and now they sound unsure if the songs will be on one LP or an LP and EP

He said its own thing more in the vein that it wasn't written at the same time as everything else, cuz it was made during the pandemic, I don't think he ever said that meant it wouldn't be on the next LP. Or if he implied it, I don't think the implication was that strong at least.

Defeat
Genie's Open

I don’t remember the exact quote and it’s buried deep in the TS thread at this point but I believe he compared it to a weird cousin that shows up at Thanksgiving and said they didn’t know what to do with it yet, so I guess it could end up anywhere depending on how it came out in the studio

I'd do it for a nominal fee, travel and expenses and maybe some pocket money for when we're not working, go round the shops and stuff.
All I'd do is when they'd written a song and performed it a couple of times, I'd just say 'that's it'. Someone would say hey what if we just...and I would go Phil Spector without the gun. Sit down and play that fucking song. I'll press record and stop. We got it boys, your best song yet. I would love them to have a more spontaneous approach to recording and daring to capture their initial sparks more. After twenty years of not doing that, I'm certain it will happen any day now.
