What are you looking for? The O'Brien System shows in full? Or the Animal Collective related tracks from the show?

I never use a computer outside work so I can't or can't be arsed.
Jordan, thanks for changing. You are now on my FRIEND list.

You know those grotesque 'real' Simpsons head models? Imagine that person made one of a Junji Ito character, crossed with the bit in Beetlejuice where their heads get stretched out and fucked up.

Feel like they got into a thing where they were putting too much space into those songs (winters love, banshee beat, others). I think their instincts following the enormous and immediate success of MPP was to go in the opposite direction and be all chilled out.

I really like the 'deconstructed' Winters Love which captures the harmonic essence of the original but explores a very different space. It doesn't really capture the emotion, though. It's quite an abstract thing.
Submarine Banshee is pretty intense, though. The atmosphere is so deep and powerful. It's almost boring in a way but if you're listening closely, it's like Two Sails, brooding and yearning. I love it.
Interesting point that they were a reaction to MPP. What a wonderful era.

Spacey banshee beat is cool, but that version of winters love annoys me... The joy of that song for me is in the raucous feel good singsong nature of it. Sucking out the momentum is whack

That's true but I don't know many other bands who would even dare to deconstruct one of their most popular songs in such a different style. Pretty cool that it exists, even if I wouldn't choose to listen to it more than once a year.

I think you could be right about that reaction, although I also kinda see it as just a logical extension of the Merriweather sound. Both MPP and FBK have a really vivid atmosphere that permeates the songs, and imo it's one of the defining qualities of that era of the band, but on the studio versions it feels like the emphasis is mostly placed on the beats and melodies, and the atmosphere is just ear candy. I love the way that they used those live performances of Banshee Beat, Chocolate Girl, extended Bleed, etc to bring the ambient soundscapes to the forefront. In some ways I think Merriweather is like their ambient masterpiece but it's only really evident in the live versions

As far as others, I think Kanye posted My Girls on his blog back in the day, and there's this article from 2010 where Aziz Ansari interviews the dudes and says he's a fan
http://www.thefader.com/2010/01/07/feat ... ziz-ansari
obviously a lot of ppl celebs or not became fans around 09/10 when they were blowing up

a better question would be "were any celebs fans before MPP" because a lot of them jumped on the bandwagon after that, culminating in Beyonce giving them a writing credit when she borrowed part of the My Girls melody

I thought it came up someone else was running Kanye’s blog at the time My Girls was posted.
And lol Beyonce didn’t write that.

Should I buy Essence of Eucalyptus? Feels weird skipping over a release after all these years. Does anyone know if it will be released in record stores so I can avoid shipping costs?
