it is hard to tell! maybe he going to produce this time... Down There is ... although the quality of the music helps, probably one of the best produced albums of the past fifty years.
it would be possible that if he does not feel like touring, instead he will help the music to be perfect in other ways.

i've heard through the grapevine that they are actually recording in LA (hollywood to be more specific) and that josh isn't there. i was pretty skeptical that they were recording, rather than just writing, but my friend who lives there and is just one degree of separation away is insistent on it. i was also unsure about no josh, but the pictures seem to be supporting that. maybe he's working on solo stuff...

In seriousness though, look at the bottles. Everyone seems to be on their first one yet look at the end of the table, opposite geo: another bottle by the empty space on the couch. Obviously Deak has just popped off to the bathroom and these jokers were like 'Hey, let's fuck with the fans some more'

just one degree of separation away? is your friend atiba jefferson?
I'm skeptical too, they're pretty secretive about their recording process so I don't think they'd be telling random people about it. then again it has been a good 6-7 years since Merriweather and the surrounding hype so maybe they're more chill about keeping stuff secret now? idk

If all this speculation is somehow true and only Brian, Dave and Noah are recording the new batch of songs, then it could be really cool if for their next tour Deakin is the opening act for AC

Album has to be quite far away still. They haven't seemed to have done that much work on it so far. I'm sure it's still fairly early in the process, even if they are recording some things

i honestly could see them just dropping an album on us. they like to do things they have never done before, and they have never just dropped an album out of nowhere. and it seems more common for artists to do it nowadays.

The album is released via many USBs attached to the collars of stray dogs released around America. The song names are the different breeds and the track lengths give clues as to their geographical location.

They mentioned before, years ago now, that they were interested in recording an album before touring it. And that would be a very new thing for them and they seem to like new things. So even if I wouldn't go so far as to say "they're probably going to do that some time", I think it's a real possibility.
