Since you both said you're disappointed by the roll out, what exactly were you expecting to happen by this point? I'm blown away by any notion that anything else should have happened by now for an album that comes out next year.
We have a single, the cover(s!), track list, a few interviews, and a write-up on the intended aesthetic. I'm not sure what else you're saying there should be at this point...

I'm honestly impressed that they wrote completely brand new material, recorded, mixed and gave us a single with a vinyl pre order all in one year. While also releasing a live record and a live improv jam.
If we didn't have the internet we would be very content right now until the album drops.

Only a bit disappointed, not really. Like I said at the end, we're two months away - for context, Centipede Radio was less than a month before the album's release.
To reiterate, I agree we're not owed anything, but my expectations were admittedly skewed by CHz being announced with the Honeycomb/Gotham release, and PBVGR being announced with Mr Noah EP, a music video, and weekly live visuals being updated on the site with chopped audio.
I'm not upset that the single audio was what we got, along with the standard press release and interviews. And I'm not upset with the band or their team, as that would be ridiculous. I'm just explaining why in my head, a feeling of disappointment bubbled up a bit.
Live at 9:30 was great, and Remember Michael, while not totally my cup of tea, was a nice sentiment.

Very well stated Frumpkin. I applaud your voice of reason.
But I agree with Dr. Cruxtable. They even created a cool website for us to mess around with and Michael, Remember to watch. I don't really know what else I would want. I think the black Wednesday events were a very cool way to start the marketing campaign by being mysterious and absurd which fits in with the Dadaist ties they're trying to make. Plus that was only 2 weeks ago. Since then we've gotten even more information. They're even playing separate solo sets tonight (for free), which who knows, they could record and release to soundcloud.
I guess people are irritated by being told to be patient, but I do believe in due time those who are will be pleasantly rewarded either with more music, a freebird or something totally unexpected

I remember centipede radio being like the 5 weeks leading up to release, no? This thing is months away and they already dropped a single and had a random airport stream.

You're right - I was confused because after the last radio broadcast where they streamed it in full I was listening thru the album as if it was released, though it didn't get its official release until a few weeks later.

Okay so the more I listen to these clips, it sounds like the boys latin effect is barely used except in maybe like one or two songs and it's usually actually just avey and panda repeating eachother back and forth? Anyone else notice this?? Sounds a lot like the boys latin effect though

Wow peeps are pissed in this thread. Why so impaitent? You got a single to bang your heads to, release date in two months + that factmag interview I just scanned through which seems to say alot about the process. What more are ya'll expecting?
I'm personally psyched. Can't believe this band still reinvents themselves 11 albums in. Musical rolemodels!

I listened to the snippets again yesterday just one time and I cannot get "Bagels..." out of my head. That one is gonna slay so hard.
I can't even quite tell who's singing on it.

It's so dark and hip-hoppy and the harmonies/melody are so interesting. I love how that one sounds in the snippet. Noah is definitely the higher voice, but yeah, I can't tell who's doing the lower register melody.

I'm looking forward to Christmas and enjoying a couple of weeks holiday and breaking in my new wanking glove, when Santa brings it on Xmas morn. Tan leather, a goosedown lining with a tempered India rubber palm grip. I'm going to treat my privates like a punch drunk journeyman.

It's called 'hocketing', which could be an onomatopeic description of my reaction every time it's referenced.

So do yall think there might be another single released before Feb 19? I know its common for lots of bands to have multiple singles out before album release.
I could definitely see it happening around the new year.

So I guess this forum has stooped down to the tier of 4chan. Shame, it used to be a cool place with some intelligent discussion thrown in. I guess my opinions go above your head too much, so you stoop down to petty two word insults because your taste has been criticized. No wonder the band stopped posting here long ago,
If it isn't a meme, than you can't process it right?
Please, at what point did I whine or complain without a valid reason? I'm sure if some of you played music, you would understand what my comment was inciting. If the bad wants to do a poor job of selling their album, what better way than to release a single without a murmur and offer nothing to entice its fan base. It's not like the 10th album of any band is going to ride on its musical sleeves alone. If the band is going to meet people half-way and they need to actually bring people around to the idea that this 10th album is offering something worthwhile. It's kind of a shot in the foot. They are expecting some kind of air of mystery to attract an audience, but in actuality its just a deafening empty-ness. The masses/blogs/critical listener is not hanging on the edge of their seat JUST because Animal Collective played their 10th album in an airport. Obviously someone here agrees, as it's a logical point.
Even the artwork seems hastily made, which I guess embodies the whole idea of this album's concept? It seems very unthoughtful to me, which is the opposite case with their actual music-making process.
this is the worst post I've ever had to read in my entire life. Please apologize

Yep, Catbus, you pretty much just ruined this thread and I'm bowing out of here until the album is out. A couple of you fans in here are an embarrassment. Shout out to the patient ones who are just stoked we have a new album coming. Later.

i don't post here very often but i lurk here almost every week to keep up to date with my favorite animal musicians
just want to stop in to say i'm incredibly grateful for all the media the boys have graced us with--compare it to 2013 when panda and avey were doing their solo shows and nobody had any idea what was going on, they were so quiet...then a year later pbvsgr and avey tares slasher flicks come from those live shows, silence is broken, and all is well...
bottom line it's all good just b patient

after quietly observing this mayhem, it's entertaining how tapir and catbus simply don't understand the problem people have with their arguments is the condescending tone & misconceptions that their OPINIONS are facts....
I understand that most of us disagree with their somewhat extreme statements, but they wouldn't be torn apart if they approached things more respectfully
