no joking, can we not try to trick people into thinking the album freebirded, because if you're on this site you obviously love anco and will be clawing at every hint of a freebird. When you say something exists when it doesn't it raises everybody's hopes, makes them feel stupid when it turns out to be a hoax and then makes it so everybody isn't just unable to listen to the album, they're also sad about it.

Besides, I've never been on a fan forum during this type of release. Usually we get something to fucking tide us over, but AC is stringing us along for this one. Like, PBVSGR was a cinch. We had tons to keep us going. This forum is just speculation speculation speculation.

I hate Christmas because I hate waiting for presents. I want to know what they are RIGHT NOW. Patience isn't a strength of mine. So I would've fallen for anything, I guess.

Actually I'm no longer sorry for getting you worked up. You sound super entitled and like you have a serious issue with patience. I am glad I could teach you a lesson in how these sorts of forums work around the release of an album. Remember, you, by virtue of breathing and existing on this Earth, do not "deserve" anything. It's a privilege for us to listen to music we love, and it's a privilege if we somehow get to hear it early. Don't take stuff for granted.

I agree with the people who feel like the handling of ''Painting With'' so far is a bit of a disservice to the fans. This is an especially lackluster marketing campaign, and just kind of lazy in my opinion.

The band says ''the silence will be broken'' but in all actuality we have almost no information given directly from the band.

With Chz, they immersed us in the radio element trying as much as possible to evoke a sense of the Star Wars cantina band vibe.

I get the reasoning behind playing the album at a childhood hangout, but that is something that only satisfies the band itself. Just coldly releasing a single is just about the most un-rewarding experience. I want to know more about how the group came together and created this new thing!

We had Oneohetrix Point Never create an extremely bizaare rabbit hole through his website, which really helped promote his headspace behind his new album "G.O.D''. Besides that he was releasing statements, interviews, writings, and other ephemera centered around his new work. That was one guy, with a much smaller budget... yet he was able to successfully transfer a sense of context to the masses.

It's really the sole job of Animal Collective to make music, so is their another reason why they chose to be as far removed from their own album release as possible? They have the freedom to literally do whatever they want with their album promotion, so why do nothing at all?

I found the whole joke pretty lolzy and the fact that some people fell for it is pretty funny, but these people are insistintly checking for a freebird and imagine how excited they were when they saw your post?? We have a release date. That is literally everything that you need to know. No variation in their marketing/advertising plans will change the quality of the music, which is what we're here for right?
