I was listening to Jessica Pratt's song "Get Your Head Out" recently and realized that the song title and melody for the main lyric itself must be an homage to Panda Bear's "Carrots". I know they're friendly; Jessica has written positive words about Sinister Grift and Noah listed Jessica's recent album (on which "Get Your Head Out" appears as one of his favorites of the last year).

Surprised I didn't clock this. I loved some tracks off her new one but was overall kind of disappointed by it, maybe I wasn't listening closely enough. Would love to read what she had to say about SG, where did you find the write-up? She talked about Person Pitch in her Pitchfork Perfect 10 video so I'm sure she's quite the fan.

I found her blurb (amongst Lopatin’s, Braxe’s, and Falcon’s) on this Japanese site while looking for digital copies of Virginia Tech, which is the bonus track in Japan for Sinister Grift.
“On Sinister Grift, Panda Bear finds himself alone, facing fate and hardship. Noah's pure, poignant lament feels more vivid than ever, like he's waking from a dream. Panda Bear traverses perilous terrain with a familiar voice, delivering weighty yet light torch songs.”
Pratt’s most recent record is what got me into her so my experience of her earlier work is limited! Looking forward to diving deeper into her discography.

Jessica Pratt also opened for him on a few of the Grim Reaper shows back in 2015
I love all of her music but Here in the Pitch is one of the very best albums from the past decade

Nice find Ihtd! Love that Jessica Pratt album and didn't make the connection, she definitely sang it in the Carrots/Good Girl melody. Seems like her album title might be a nod to PP as well.

pretty sure that's the instrumental version that's gotten passed around here before. i think the idea is that they were for NPR bumpers etc?
too close to an official release to post publicly but someone curious could probably track it down. surprised it's not on youtube

no, this album with all eleven instrumentals came into the possession of "the feeling store" here on CA at some point.
it was shared around the same time they posted the 2004 live recording of PB + Rusty as "Together" in 2014 (which was such a big deal that a whole horror movie got named after it https://vimeo.com/655240415)

Btw JFW I PM’d you my recording of the Detroit show and since then preakness did some EQ work and put it on YouTube and maybe mediafire, is there anything else you need to add it to the live archive? I added the YouTube link to the thread but the split raw files I PM’d you will need to be uploaded somewhere else so I can delete the files from my Drive folder

If anyone has a link to the instrumentals I welcome a PM !
Re: General The Animal Collective Talk (...cont'd)
Been listening to this after picking it up on CD a while back and then seeing this the other day. Cool album, the last track has major PB/AC vibes, really easy to hear the connection to his music.

Jessica Pratts latest was one of my favorite albums of 2024. Just a perfect album. Listening to Sinister Grift I was thinking how the albums have a similar feeling to me. That sense of things being elegantly stripped back, seemingly simple, airy, but also just really warm, bright, and full. The ability to strip things down to their core essences and let the songs stand for themselves while also having them feel momentously huge. I didn't realize that the both of them were friends and admirers of each others work until that recent GQ interview. I more than suspected Jessica was fan of PB when she did that recent NTS and she kicked it up with a deep live cut of "Song for Ariel." But yeah, both her newest and Sinister just have a certain feeling to them that feels very similar.

I grew up in the south of Spain, left 20 years ago and went back to commemorate that (as well as my 10 year anniversary with my wife) and we decided to hop on over to Portugal while we were in the area since we've both never been before.

Animal Collective - Collision Deep 02:35
Written and performed by Animal Collective
Mixed by Josh Dibb
Very interesting track, lots of repeated phrases with dense vocal layers. Possible that this is the AC track that was mentioned in our interview that was helmed by Dave and Brian that Josh and Noah added their vocals to...

Does anyone ever put the entire AC-verse on shuffle and see what it throws up. There are 400-odd songs now, I think, so I find it a nice way to come across ones I may not have heard recently.
Anyway, for no real reason, here's what it's given me today:
Two Sails On A Sound
Loch Raven
Cloud Stop Rest Start
On The Farm
Golden Chords
Chilly Blue
Mess Your House
April and the Phantom
Peacebone
Season High
Genie's Open
Grass
Benfica
Nostalgia In Lemonade
We Tigers
50mg
Come To Your Senses
That It Won't Grow
Prester John
Penny Dreadfuls
