is there any higher quality recording of the mothlight specific songs out there? ive always had trouble getting into it because of the quality of the recording for download. i'm dying to get into these songs though!

i transcibed the lyrics for saturdays
completeness dripping on a cake
the red the white the blue the opaque
smoking off into a nothing
some sweet reply's moving up out of the oven
the sense of a wonderful day
sights will be exploding
what moves might try to fold out into an open
a brush and a nick and a push and a lick and
things that i am hoping for you
and some do try to get a little superstitious
there's lots of cracks in many days
also many wishes
but i don't know why they picked on saturdays
should be just like all the days
but i do know why i was never quite pushin for mondays
cause they remind me of those saturdays
my how time flies, said my younger cousin
my how time flies, said my younger cousin
i turned to break through a southern pond
with the dragonflies he would buzz on
i turned to break through a southern pond
with the dragonflies he would buzz on
but i don't know why they picked on saturdays
should be just like all the days
but i do know why i was never quite pushin for mondays
cause they remind me of those saturdays
completeness
saturday
completeness

Midnight Special is the only Mothlight song I've heard but yeah will be a shame if it isn't on the album. But like Stan suggested the fact that we only have it in live form adds to its mystery and charm.
KC yours is derriere...i have a hunch
Wait soz if being a pleb but is Derriere what was formerly known as Slow Words? Or do they just share a lyric?

Oh true haha. Yeah it was a long shot but would've been epic if Slow Words was finally getting some studio treatment. But it's fine as it is.
So badly wanna pre-order the deluxe LP but as an Aussie uni student ~$77 is too much atm. Might cop it from JB Hi-Fi or something later.

Is it gauche to just ask him on IG about Midnight Special? Seems there's always some young imbeciles posting screenshots of inane questions he's answered for them. Or did he shut down his IG for that very reason?
i think he did shut it down originally due to some weird questions, but even since then he has answered many questions on the main animal collective account so i'd say go for it (geo answers sometimes too), i've heard them say they love answering questions about their music, just not stuff about their personal lives
even better, maybe ask him how the album titles correspond to the working titles he provided in 2017! that should wrap up most speculation (only two of the tracks we don't have titles for)

hmm i thought Chilly Blue was "derriere" due to the repeated line "your derriere in the frosted air" but itunes says that track is 2:51 and the versions we have of that song are both nearly 8 minutes long so it can't be that. yeah maybe it is KC Yours then

I'm betting that Chilly Blue is the unknown "Jimmy Neutron" track also played at Elsewhere. At least I'm hoping because that song sounded like a jam. K.C. Yours has got to be either Derriere or maybe Enjoy the Change. Our Little Chapter is the real mystery...

this is all exactly what i'm thinking now
i think Our Little Chapter is Midnight Special (or Tipping Hugs is Midnight Special)

1 What’s the Goodside? (6:31) = The Aging Heart (due to "Goodside" lyric)
2 Eyes on Eyes (4:31) = Eyes on Eyes
3 Nostalgia in Lemonade (3:41) = Ono Lemonde
4 Saturdays (Again) (4:49) = Saturdays
5 Chilly Blue (2:51) = [second new song from elsewhere and Lisbon shows? "jimmy neutron"]
6 K.C. Yours (6:12) = [either Derriere or Enjoy the Change?]
7 Our Little Chapter (3:40) . = [Midnight Special?]
8 Taken Boy (3:41) = Taken Boy
9 Remember Mayan (4:51) = The Mayan
10 Hors_ (4:56) = Sew Happy (due to lyrics about a horse)
Bonus 10"
1 Tipped in Hugs [Midnight Special?]
2 Dog Says Goodbye [???]
that leaves:
leftovers from mothlight
Disc One/Disc Two
Doctor No
Uncle Donut
from mothlight + eucalyptus tour
Red Light Water Show
hmmmmmmm...

Very excited about this. Saturdays is amazing. Eyes on Eyes is going to be epic. I could not get into Eucalyptus :/
Any theories on if any of the tracks will be Disc One/Disc Two? I loved that track from the Mothlight boot and am worried it'll just vanish like Song for Jerome

not really, but since Taken Boy made it on there from the mothlight show i wouldn't rule it out

If Midnight Special is here at all I feel like it's gotta be one of the 10" songs. Our Little Chapter seems too short.

Maybe it's ""What's the Goodside". Get it? Disc 1-2...Good side?
Just kidding but maybe.

haha
yeah i think you're right hellomark. i could just imagine it with that title and see it being paired with Taken Boy
on the other hand it feels a lot different than the rest of the material so i could see it fitting on the 10" for that reason
you have to figure the stuff on the 10" is on there cause either it stands alone well or doesn't really fit on the album, but all the songs seem so distinct i could really imagine many of them standing alone / standing out from the album

right, would make sense for either the mothlight or elsewhere songs that didn't appear anywhere else.
though all new would be fun too.

i hope the 10" is disc one/disc two respectively but they're morphed into long dancey improv jams now

jimmy neutron is such a banger but why the fuck is it named that
also, aging heart was my favorite of the 2017 jams but it doesn't feel like an opener to me, i hope it didn't undergo another radical change in structure like it did from mothlight->euc tour
also also, idk if its just me but i have 0 demoitis from the saturdays single. i loved buoys/homies but they were pretty disorienting at first listen haha, the production on this is exactly what i expected and it is beautiful

I could see chilly blue being enjoy the change ... I mean, it’s long live but it’s also lyrically short. So i could see him cutting straight to the point .. kinda like an in and out thing. Just a thought though.

Also remember he has said he had a few other songs he wrote that he wasn’t playing on tour (2017) so some of these could simply just be those unheard songs

Either way I’m so stoked for the Chicago and honestly it would be so sweet if he play some of the songs that didn’t make the cut for the album ... such an AC / AT thing to do

since Derriere and Jimmy Neutron were newer songs made/played together, I wonder what the chance of them being the two songs on the 10" is?

"Saturdays (Again)" is really good. I'm trying to place what it reminds me of, but I don't think they've ever quite done a song like this before.
Actually, I take that back. It reminds me of this song from the first Panda Bear album.
