Love this so much.
Walker sounded great, very hip-hoppy. I imagine these are older recordings though, i wonder what it sounds like on the record.

i'm inclined to believe they plucked recordings from a bunch of different sessions and glued them together for this blast session
wouldn't be surprised if that's summer 2021 Walker

def less of an emphasis on transitions this time. Except for like, now/this part. Transition to nowhere, best kind.

deepest apologies all. no shortage of mics. having a strange issue with the way I have to broadcast these. thought I'd fixed it. was talking the whole intro and I could hear it fine in my ears and it was jumping on the meters but for some reason I cannot explain other than gremlins at the moment... you could not hear me. anyway.... in brief
last week was a 3 song jammed set from aug 17. prester john, cherokee, Genie's Open. then a demo I made for What's On the Road, It's Shining in 2018 before dave and brian and I got together to prepare the music box set.
this week. was a hodgepodge.
Stride Rite from aug 17 2021 in Asheville sessions
Passerby from july 23 2019 from the first session where the 4 of us got together to start working on all of these songs
Broke Zodiac from august 7 2021
Walker from july 23 2019
Soul Capturer from aug 16 2021
and then a long improv from august 12 2021
I'll get the broadcast sorted next week and talk about all of this.
thanks for tuning in and that everyone is enjoying life as best as they can
josh

Sick, okay so the Walker and Passerby were old actually, pre-Meow Wolf and all that 2 falls ago. So they had no autotune on Passer, added it and then took it back off. Sick.
Explains old lyrics. And Walker could still could have changed in a lotta ways

Wowwwww that’s so dope that they’re all from separate recordings. They fit together so perfectly I really thought it was one session. Stride is incredible Josh!

Jusssst hit play but... stride rite is realllllllllllllly doing it for me. Wow. Feels like direct lineage to many old favourites with addition of time's clear sharpening of the bands' abilities. Beautiful.

Stride - beautiful, love having this nice quality recording of it
Passerby - very cool to hear this super early version, you can tell they're still kinda jamming it out. "You can read the bottle, guy"?
Broke Zodiac - interesting how this almost sounds like a halfway point between the 2019 version and the live 2021 version. They must have worked on it a lot during the 2021 rehearsals.
Walker - glad they played an early version of this, still want the studio version to be a surprise. Sounds way tighter than the meow wolf boot.
Soul Capturer - by far the best version of this song. Beautiful.

Wow, from the 2019 boots we had, I wasn't too big on Walker, found it the most lackluster of the group of songs. but hearing this version of it where you can really hear a lot more of the detail, I think it sounds great and I can't wait to see in what ways it has grown and changed from 2019! This version of Stride Right sounds incredible! Probably my favorite of Deakin's songs from this era. Broke Zodiac songs great! It was one of my favorite of their new songs when I heard it live at Desert Daze. I didn't know how I felt about the newest slowed down version, but this recording of it has me sold on it. Good to hear the older version of passerby, still like the older lyrics more than the new, I just think they fit a lot better into the melody, and there is so many parts that stand out. Soul Capture is such a blissful Jam with an addictive melody. Really hope it makes a release onto something!
Thanks Deakin for filling us in! The gremlins are real. I am often convince that my tech is haunted with gremlin tech tricksters!

Was known as strangers during the 2019 tour. Then this most recent tour they played it at several of the shows.
