The new lyrics/parts since '19 do seem Panda-ish, esp lyrically. Yeah shit, maybe panda was so into the OG Music Box version that he came to the band with his own stuff. or had a fragment already that worked with what Avey/Deak were doing at the Music Box, who knows..

I still have a suspicion Prester John is a Deakin-penned track through and through.

I mentioned this a while back, but I asked Josh about his three music box tracks (Royal, Shining, Peanut Butter Hearts) after a 2019 show and he corrected me that four of the songs were written by him. I still struggle to identify a fourth without (the latter half of) Prester John unless I'm missing something.

He's also the only member to sing every line in the 2021 live performances, in addition to being the only member to have a solo bit with the "passion for a little giving" line.

Idk, just some food for thought!

I wish! Work is being done to squeeze all the sonic juice out of these beasts but in the meantime I've had Asheville on repeat like the rest of y'all! :metal

I'm still trying to work on my Royal and Desire cover and am bummed they didn't play it at Asheville because of the boot's great clear quality :(

Is there a particularly good 2021 recording of it I might be missing that someone could help direct me towards (not counting the p4k broadcast that cut out)? I'm mostly interested in a recording for figuring out the lyrics as best as I can if that helps at all!

Hunks you absolute madman, you’ve done it again. This recording is crisp. I’m loving these versions they really seemed to hit a stride (no pun intended) a few shows into this run. I’ve been waiting to listen to strangers and passerby till there were good recordings and they were worth the wait. New passerby is much fuller sounding but I’m not 100% sold on the new lyrics and lack of auto tune but I think it’s going to grow on me. Still a beautiful song

Thanks a lot, hunks! Sounds awesome!
I love the bit where avey explains that the new record is called "time skiFFS, F-F-S...", and I immediately had to think of the commonly used acronym for "for f*cks sake".
Don't know of that was aveys intention though

Also broke>defeat>stride is a lovely sequence, I wouldn't mind if they put it on the record like that.

Broke>Defeat>Stride>Sea of Light would be a dream. Especially if it followed Magicians into Gem with another track or so

what show did he say this at? there was a lot of skiffs vs skips debates after the asheville show so maybe he wanted to clear that up.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

....or should I say, Happy Lexsgiving!

This is the brainchild of user TangerineEyes. Him and I met during the Fall tour and became fast friends. He knew I had recorded audio and offered up his excellent video recording of the show. I had a blast tinkering with his footage and mashing it together with my recording.

So, in the spirit of celebrating friends, family and everyone in between, here's a special holiday treat. Have a wonderful holiday, fellow animals!

Yooooo thank you to both of you!
Excited to watch, haven't seen too much clear footage of the band playing these shows, other than p4k

Will you make a download available for the audio?

Yeah, lexgiving and burl-o-ween are the same show, haha, I didn't figure that out until I got to the part where Avey clarifies the album title

that show is fantastic... starts with so many strong, vibes Avey numbers before getting into glorious panda/deakin stuff and has an incredible defeat (in the middle!). great show/footage

it doesn't even have magicians and genie's but still completely owns. this era is incredible
