MPP is Panda's baby for sure. Never really thought that it was their weirdest record but I see what you mean. Slasher Flicks is the logical next step in their evolution. Avey should stick with the guitar for a while. His songwriting is in a really sweet place right now.

definite modest mouse vibes throughout
especially avey screaming "The outlaw in the future" or whatever
even sounds like something Isaac Brock would write

While I dig the overall vibe of the new songs, I must say I am in love with the group sound on Oliver Twist. I'm going to enjoy digesting these songs.

I honestly am just in love with practically any song Avey Tare sings.

The end of The Outlaw is probably Avey's greatest moment since the screaming breakdown in Safer or the Brothersport jams on the recent tours, no joke.

Those are the fan titles, Avey posted the real titles on Instagram. The Outlaw is The Future. Real titles are: Blind Babe, Duplex Trip, The Outlaw, Your Card, That, It Won't Grow, Roses on the Window, Modern Daze E, and Strange Colores.

Really into the sound they got going on. Interested in how its actually going to play out on the album.

Have they confirmed they will be releasing an album? I thought this would just be a live band for fun and shenaningans but like others, they exceeded my expectations.

Thank you El Camino! Great read. Here's a highlight for anybody feelin' lazy:

He wants to make a trilogy of albums and Noah is advising him not to!! :-P Sounds quite ambitious, maybe not for someone as prolific as Dave though..

But yeah, I still can't get over how fucking great that Future song is. All of the other Slasher Flicks stuff kinda pales to it.

I just read that now and I almost cried with joy. Came on here to either post it or celebrate.

In light of that could we please change the title to "Avey Tare hype"? Or just "Avey Tare"? Or do you want someone to make a separate general Avey Tare thread?

Yeah maybe something that reflects talk for both of his upcoming projects?

Also really hoping Song For Jerome, Slow Words and Sometimes can finally find a home on the other record he's working on :)

Can't remember the other songs so well but Song for Jerome definitely doesn't sound like a "sun shine" song to me. It's so much in the vein of Down There.

i could see it being an opener as a "first rays of light for the day" song on a sunshine album

Yay megathread

I guess we'll see about the 2011 tracks. Wish he'd just recorded them for a little EP or something. Or at least done that live thing. At this point I'd prefer it were all new material though.
