PB - Manchester 2011 (?) Tomboy tour with SB. First AC show, it blew my face off. The visuals and Bros as an encore, I felt like I was flying down an infinite wind tunnel. I'll never forget it.
AC - Manchester 2012 (?) Chz tour. I was driving, school night, after the show I realised I'd hurt my neck from dancing too hard. Crowd was pretty good, lots of people knew the CHz lyrics and were singing along. It got a bit mental for My Girls & BroSport, loads of casuls rushing to the front but they were unbelievable performances, the ten-minute BS techno orgy edition especially. I got done for speeding on my way home, but the court never got in touch! Karma.

it also turns out that i sat right in front of Dave and Angel at a Hannibal Buress stand up set in March but i pretended they weren't there and let them get on with their night

09/04/2016, La Cigale, Paris

July 2014, Midi Festival
March 2015, La Gaité Lyrique
When I saw him this summer i spent times with him backstage, noah is reallly super cool and friendly. Talked with him before the show and told him that i really liked boys latin ( i sung it, didn't know the name at the time) and after the show He told me "Hey I played your jam !", it was super cool. Talked like 20 minutes with him. When i had to go I started walkin away, waving my hand all shy and He just put his hand in the air and gave me a friendly handshake ( hands when you arm wrestle). Really made my day. The same day at the venue I met the coolest girl too. It was a perfect night and the show was just amazing.

Aha, yeah it was really amazing. The best is when I came across him, he went out of the toilet and i was waiting in front to go in. When he came out I was stunned. Such a good moment. And it was super cool caus at the end his tour manager was telling him that they had to leave in 5 minutes and was like "yeah yeah okay" .The guy came back and said "in 2 minutes" it was the same, like he was enjoying the conversation. Such a good guy.

Wow, I also saw Animal Collective live at le Trianon, Paris in 2013! Amazing experience, still the best concert I've been to! The performance was fantastic and the audience was really into it. Peacebone, Brother Sport and Purple Bottle in particular were out of this world.
I also saw AnCo at Pitchfork Festival Paris 2012 but it was a bit disappointing. The sound wasn't so good and the audience was completely inert. I really wish I had discovered them earlier and seen them circa 2007 ; I think the energy level was really insane back then.
Haven't seen Panda Bear live yet, gonna see him in Paris in March too; maybe we can meet up!

If you were among the dancing person, we must have seen each other, I was like a crazy lunatic during those songs, some guy told me to calm down and then "Open up open up" so I went insane. But then the non dancing, moving guy is always wrong if comes around the fun area. And yeah that would be fun for the panda show

Haha yeah that Today's Supernatural + Brosport + Purple Bottle combo for the encore was wicked. I started the concert at the front row (maybe you saw me then) but ended in the back, otherwise I probably would have fainted; I had zero energy left at the end but I really had a blast. I was probably among the dancing ones - you should have seen me during Purple Bottle ! You were right to give it your all, that's what makes a good AnCo audience !

AC:
Prospect Park Brooklyn 8/15/09
setlist:
Graze
Summertime Clothes
Leaf House
Guys Eyes
Slippi
#1
Also Frightened
What Would I Want? Sky
My Girls
Lablakely Dress/Fireworks
Brother Sport
Encore:
In the Flowers
Comfy in Nautica
Lion in a Coma
First AC show, dream set list. 7 merriweather tracks + graze, wwiws, leaf house, 20 minute fwx, #1, comfy in nautica, slippi…dunno if I’ll ever see an AC show with a better setlist than that. This was the first time they played Graze since the pre-merriweather shows in 2007, so that was a huge surprise. In the flowers was particularly great, definitely a stand out. Made out with this girl who must have been like 10 years my senior during also frightened and now I can’t listen to that song anymore without thinking of that lol…guy eyes was really fun too, they released these glowing/flashing inflatable beach balls on the crowd during the song.
Prospect Park Brooklyn 7/12/11
setlist:
Wide Eyed
Today's Supernatural
Did You See the Words
Father Time
New Town Burnout
Monkey Riches
Brother Sport
Mercury Man
Gotham
Honeycomb
We Tigers
Summertime Clothes
Encore:
Rosie Oh
Crimson
Taste
Not as much to say about this one, great show tho, knew all the chz songs going into it because of the boots. They had technical difficulties during wide eyed and had to start again which was pretty funny. We Tigers was a blast and so was that crazy hip hop version of taste that they played on this tour
Union Transfer Philly 10/28/13
setlist:
Crimson
Today's Supernatural
Lion in a Coma
Honeycomb
Wide Eyed
My Girls
What Would I Want? Sky
Brother Sport
I Think I Can
Peacebone
Encore:
Amanita
The Purple Bottle
Halloween show, they told everyone to wear costumes but it was last minute so only some people did. The band members all had masks or wigs on. Post-album crimson and honeycomb were nice treats. First time seeing amanita which was fun. Purple bottle/peacebone/I think I can were highlights for sure, but the surprise standout track was actually BROTHERSPORT. I overplayed this song so much and was so sick of it by this point that it was probably the track I was least excited for on the setlist, but holy shit the energy in this place when they played it was something I haven’t experienced at many shows before or after. Everyone danced like crazy during this song, jumping and pushing and swaying, screaming the lyrics, and I was so drenched in sweat and out of breathe afterwards, felt amazing (as did the post-concert gatorade). vid of brothersport so you get an idea of how crazy it was:

Avey Tare:
Knitting Factory Brooklyn 12/2/2011
setlist:
Song For Jerome
Lucky 1
Sometimes
In Photographs
Oliver Twist
Slow Words
3 Umbrellas
Laughing Hieroglyphic
Death Raga
So glad I caught Avey on this tour! Nice small crowd. Laughing Hieroglyphic was sooo much fun to sing along with, and avey got really into it too. and the new tracks blew my mind live, still waiting for that ep </3
Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks:
Metro Gallery 6/6/13
Setlist:
Blind Babe
Duplex Trip
Oliver Twist
The Outlaw
Your Card
That It Won't Grow
Roses on the Window
Modern Days E
Strange Colores
This was the very first slasher flicks show. It was announced unexpectedly via avey’s facebook the afternoon of the show, and my friends and i decided on a whim to drive all the way down from north jersey. so worth it tho. couldn’t have been even 100 people at this show, and we were so close I could have reached out and strummed avey’s guitar. It was cool hearing all these songs without knowing them at all. The strongest track by FAR was the outlaw, when we left the show we all agreed unanimously that that song slayed. The album does not capture the energy of that song live, avey poured his soul into it. The guitar part at the beginning had a different effect on it that sounded super cool
Panda Bear:
Union Transfer 5/17/14
setlist:
Sequential Circuits
Garage
Jabberwocky
Boys Latin
Come to Your Senses
Tropic of Cancer
Untying the Knot
Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker
Principe Real
Nadir
Encore:
Last Night at the Jetty
Scheherezade
Surfers Hymn
Warsaw Brooklyn 5/18/14
setlist:
The visuals really added a lot to these shows, and those fucking strobe lights that were going constantly at the end of the set took a lot away…I actually brought sunglasses to the second performance, and even with my eyes closed AND sunglasses on, the strobe still blinded me and hurt my eyes. At least they only used them liberally for the second half of the show. The warsaw show had these sick lasers that were not at the union transfer show, they were pretty cool. also torn hawk was a riot at the warsaw show. He took my sunglasses at one point and started playing his guitar with them, and was feeding me and my friends red bull after red bull while playing…I walked out of there with like 5 red bulls in my pockets. He talked to us before his set and at the end of his set he gave me his number/email and said we should grab drinks lol still haven’t taken him up on that offer...

I don't know the date because I didn't have a ticket. My band's first real show was opening for Deakin in 2010 at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. This was probably my favorite experience because Brian and Danny Perez were there. We hung out all night smoking and drinking in the band room downstairs, and they watched us play and had nothing but nice things to say, even specific moments in the songs they liked. It was so much fun, and those three are some of the coolest dudes ever.

Sadly, but in a way happily, the only time I've seen AnCo live was at Bonnaroo 2009. It was also during the peak of my first ever acid trip. The night before, my tent mates and I found a guy about 20 feet from us who was selling acid laced sugar cubes. I honestly have no idea what my actual dosage was, but my god did that show change my life. The majority of the songs were from MPP, but about 2/3 in this familiar beat started to crawl in. I remember slowly turning my head to my friend Sarah and saying, "Is that Comfy in Nautica" before realizing the grass had turned into neon-green glowsticks, and I started experiencing extreme synesthesia. About an hour later I had almost stripped completely naked after the of Montreal show, and spent a good hour dancing in the mud during Mars Volta at Which Stage. It was one of the most ethereal and surreal experiences of my life, and I'll be damned if I ever forget it.

great stories in here... very envious of some of the shows same of yal were at, especially any 07-09 shows, down there tour or reaper tour. feel like sets from those 3 tours are the total summation of my life/music i would want to make, esp mpp era...man live shows are ephemeral as shit, and u cant go back or like time-travel to tours u missed, too bad.
