i like the production on COWS a lot for different reasons, but it's really interesting to see avey go with the quasi-wall of sound approach with this one. very different for him i feel.

I only vaguely remember these songs from the boots. Really nice to see how they've turned out! Side A is top notch, can't wait for the other side.

the main thing i miss here is the more prominent beat on disc one. it feels less like a bedroom pop song now and more like a psych folk song, which is still great, just different.

Caved and listened to Midnight Special on my lunch break. Pleasantly surprised by how much more similar the melody and chords seem to be to the 2017 version than the more recent version. The emotion isn't quite the same, and I miss how the vocals were more spaced out before, it feels like he's trying to get through the song in a hurry here. I feel like that's the kind of thing that will grow on me tho, I remember thinking the same thing about Drone when Panda first released that and now it's one of my favorites on Tomboy.

if he didnt zoom thru the lyrics for midnite it would be the perf special!! but i might warm up to these new vocals. i def miss the its THRILLING me now part, but the instrumentation on this is such a welcome sound after the jazzy weird chords he played at delaware. now what ever happened to sew happy mr tare...

"disco one" truly is a blast. It was such a great experience watching the side a video natalia stuyk made. The visuals were truly top tier, I loved every second of it.

part of me wants to listen to side A because Avey intentionally released it in advance, but another part of me wants to wait to hear the full thing since it's only five songs. why couldn't he just stream the whole thing at once!
