alsatian darn is probably my fav on tomboy. The claps that come in are so epic and I love how the rhythm sort of shifts about around that bass drum and makes the accents sound like they are changing the whole time.
This is one of the most fascinating things about Alsatian Darn to me. The song itself is beautiful, all the melodies are great. But I can't quite wrap my ahead around where beat "1" is. I can't tell if PB made the bass drum play on the offbeat, or
on the beat, or if it switches back and forth. But that's what I love about it—the rhythms can be interpreted a few different ways.

that part of altasian darn is top notch, though the previous parts of that track pale in comparison to Afterburner and The Preakness.
The Preakness is my favourite Tomboy song, and because the only version of Tomboy I own is the 4xLP extended version, I always thought it was part of the actual album
Also I realise that this is recorded live, but does this count as a studio version of Bonfire?

I'd say slow motion is all the way up there

my fave is Slow Motion before SB added all the unnecessary spring reverb crap and extended the tag way too long. Pretty much what he did with the whole album.
I think the Tomboy songwriting is equal to the Person Pitch songwriting, but Person Pitch just works better as an album.

I'll add all these mixing complaints are getting crazy boring. Enough already you guys

Yeah but Tomboy could have been betterrrrr... Also that synth on Tomboy is atrocious. Its not a just mixing, the production was substantially changed from the singles. I love the straightforward sound of the singles before all the noise and reverb was slapped on just to make it different.
Oh yeah Alsatian Darn fades out too quickly on the LP. The sustained final note on the single touches my heart. This another major gripe I have.

also if noah didnt like/want the way sonic produced tomboy then he wouldnt have worked with him again for pbvsgr, so its irrelevant whether sonic 'ruined' tomboy. and if anything he was champin at workin on the album and with pb to create what pb wanted

Hey guys, I had an account long ago but forgot my CA credentials. So anyway, long time lurker (of late) - first post.
Has Noah ever played “Atiba Song” live? I love that song so much, but don't feel like I know much about it. Noah is boys with Atiba and just wrote a song for his skateboarding project? Is there only the one recording of the track (from the video)? I always wanted a studio version of that baby. Such a gem.
“Alsatian Darn” was always my most consistent favorite from Tomboy, if that makes. Very special song.

Never played it live, no studio recording, the audio from the video is all we got

I always thought Atiba started the song (the beat doesn't sound like Panda Bear), and then Noah added the vox/some of the synths maybe? who knows.
always loved that song though

Atiba Song is so evocative, even just as an instrumental, and it's funny that it would probably fit best of all into his newest material, very straightforward loops both with the beats and the synths/samples. Only two melodies, really, too. I think it's gorgeous.

if it ever came out as a studio jam, it would have to have the skateboard sounds

maybe that's the reason there's no official studio version, those skateboard sounds are so essential.
