Gliiiiding
Swimming in the curls
The tide is spackled with shells and
It tickles the sand like clay bells
My visions in a blurrrr

People floaaating
On rafts of Yellow Pink and Pearl
The current is pulling on bare legs
Imagine the beach of an old age
That wasn't filled with GIRuuuLS
Trying to get cooooOOOOL

From a Beach NEEDS to see a studio release one day, but I know it probably never will.

I think it is definitely too late, they're not gonna go back to record a song from a different era

At least we have a decent live recording of it.

So... you're saying that studio versions of Animal Collective songs are like used condoms?

MPP is obv their "best" album, tho not my "fav" (feels hcti spirit)

The production and songwriting is some timeless shit, like, doesn't even make sense when you look back on its context (think on other '09 shit -- it barely even belongs to '09, historically and genrewise)

"My Girls" and "Guys Eyes" are on the same fucking record

I love the Christmastime loving I got out of the freebird and the way it played so different on album than it did live.

Ps To all you suckas who love From A Beach, I used to dig that track back in the day and I legit don't even remember how it goes anymore. So prob not better than Lion?

i know it seems like we're done talking about it, but maaaaan, Lion in a Coma is so good. it's by far the most exciting/interesting part of the album for me. but then, i'm a diehard Avey fan. And MPP is not one of my faves because he doesn't get to scream at all

PLEEEEEEEEAAASE don't

LEEEEEEEAAAAAVVVE meee

THIIIIIIIINGS that

FEEEEEEEEEL GOOOOOOOD

how does that not just hit you in the feelings spot?

Love MPP but I feel like i'm the only one here who thinks it's their 5th or 6th best studio album

can't understand ranking their albums.

i don't think about them in that way at all.

In my head sometimes I think "What are my favorites? How would I rank them?"
Never works, I love 'em all too much.
My favorite depends on my mood (except Spirit is my favorite record of all time)

I don't rank them either but I can't help but have a rough mental list of where their albums sit for me.

They're basically all equal for me, a flat structure. Imagine a shiny piece of card, balanced on a dried piece of dog dirt.

The dog dirt is CHz.

every time i listen to this album i hear something new and find a way to love it even more, and it's almost definitely my most listened-to album ever. also lion in a coma is so great, love that rhythm. another thing that comes to mind is the really low and stuttery pitch-bending bass line in daily routine, that part always get's me psyched.

i'm probably one of the only chaps who prefers CHz to MPP. I get that MPP is a much "better" album, but the crazy frantic messy energy of CHz just never gets old. Plus Avey gets to scream a lot.
MPP, though it has some of my all-time fav songs, usually falls flat when listened to all the way through, for me anyways.

Sometimes the sun will shine
Unless I am just feeling fine
Sometimes I'm not aware
Where I am or what I care
Sometimes I'm well to do
But I don't know what to do
Sometimes I don't agree
With my thoughts on being free

PLLEAAASSSEEE DONT LEAAAVVVEE ME THINGGGSSS THAT FEEEEEEEELLL GOOD

Remember when Avey said it's actually "Am I the dancer" on an NPR interview or something

That interview was rad, where they broke down each track almost

The end of Daily Routine being like a clothesline swaying in the wind and then dropping down a cliff into a beautiful ocean

I think

I have it on my computer and will gladly upload it to media fire. I think I put a link in the mpp thread on the old boards.

Scooter, he says "am I the dancer?" And it blew everyone's mind on here when the interview aired. Some were convinced he was joking/spying on the board because it was the hot topic of the week in ac discussion.

it's really interesting how josh leaving actually inspired/spurred them to write the MPP songs because they needed material right away that they could play. I hadn't really thought about it in those terms exactly before.
like the fact that it actually sped up their process.
