Confirmed he is working on a new record "but I'm gonna play the old stuff too, because that's what you guys came here for" haha. But yeah the first, second, and fourth new songs he played were all on synth (think it's a dave smith prophet), while the others were guitar. The Parkway is such a cool venue (it's usually an indie movie theater) and I'm so psyched I made it to the show with costco_boy_42] and bansheebeaten last minute

tfw I turn 21 three months after the 21+ Boston date

I live down the street from the venue so I have the irrational urge to hang out outside after the show in hopes of meeting the deak, but that might be just a little too obsessive for me to feel right about doing.

I'll concede that I'm a little late to the game here, it always amazes me to peruse the Live Thread and see the dozens of shows people have seen before I was even consciously listening to music. So far I'm at two AC's and one Panda/Geologist, but I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, and the sheer amount of material that's come out in the 2 or 3 years since I became a fan leads me to believe now is still a valid time to get into them.

You've actually jumped on at a fascinating time. They've been more prolific and arguably produced better music in the last year and a half than they did in the previous seven or eight years. Exciting era.

i was at the show last night. deakin's set was pretty good. tough for a 50 minute bar set, a little sleepy but good. the new songs (which i hadn't heard before last night) seemed to be in very early stages. pretty much him hitting go on a replaying beat, sometimes just singing over it and sometimes playing guitar and singing over it. they were cool, interested to see where they go.

he did wide eyed and golden chords, both were great. he led into golden chords with his remix he did for tinariwen a while ago which was pretty unexpected. he said lizzi from ggd likes the track, apparently, so he remembered he wanted to do it.

gang gang dance were fuckin great. they did "glass jar" into "vacuum" which was god damn amazing.

Someone recorded Chicago and I asked the taper where it would be eventually and he said YouTube. Looked like he got video and audio.

I loved Deakin and GGD's sets. It was a wonderful night.

A comment on your video points to this source of the down down sample. Not sure if this was already widely known

I believe Deakin has played the same first 6 songs each night and then just switches up the last 2-3. There's a boot from the Chicago show in the recordings thread and more should be coming soon for Philly and Baltimore.

As I said, I couldn't go because I'm a few months shy of 21, but I actually walked past the venue around 11:30 and ran into Deakin outside talking to the doorman. I didn't want to bother him but it was nice to say hi and talk for a minute or so, and now I can say I've met every member of the band.

Still looking for that better chicago boot. Someone there recorded with some nice mics and had a camera and told me that he was gonna put both full sets of Deakin and Gang Gang on Youtube sometime. I think the boot that was posted already was an iphone recording.
