It'll probably never happen but Avey, Deaks AND Panda all on guitar with Hyman playing drums and Geo doing EVERYTHING else would be a complete fucking dream

Deakin should play the tiniest instrument since he's the tallest one. Deakin on piccolo, Panda and Avey on dueling fiddles, and Geologist on slap bass (as heard in Goalkeeper).
Stage setup: Geologist in the center, Panda and Avey on either side of him staring menacingly at each other, Deakin dancing jovial circles around all three.

I try not to have super specific expectations like this but think it’d rule if they did something like
Geo: Modular synthesizer
Deakin: Piano
Avey: Acoustic guitar
Panda: modular synthesizer
Spiritual successor to Eucalyptus/Sleep Cycle, Kinda how Painting With was kinda Slasher Flicks/PBMTGR

Yeah, that would be amazing. I feel like there will be some equally interesting features on it too. And it's always been a high hopes, but it would be so cool to hear like, a chamber orchestra or a quartet that wasn't a sample. Always a classy touch, but maybe too out of character for the boys.

I think it'd be great if they again integrated the electronics into live instrumentation. That's something they did exceptionally well across a range of albums and something which made them sound so unusual and brilliant. Too much character for pure electronics but too alien for a guitar band. Obviously, loads of bands try to integrate synthesis but AC do it better than anything else I've heard. MPP live was probably the peak being they had sampled themselves and then played the samples live. CHz was - for me - least successful because they sounded like an indie rock band with squiggles over the top, which are ten a penny.
As much as the guy is an absolute dong, I think Fovrodi is onto something there.

Any time. Let's hope they take the advice. That's the main reason I post what I do, to influence their future output, even if subconsciously.

Lol
I feel like if Avey and Deaks were playing guitar and piano between them it would be the other way around?

Good point, but Deakin is no stranger to the piano/synth. He played electronics on HCTI, some of his solo tracks and more recently at Coral Orgy and that Tony Conrad Tribute Jam.
Expect the unexpected

For sure but I wasn't saying I don't think Deakin can play or has ever played piano. Or that Avey can't play guitar well. I guess I am pigeonholing them a bit though, a lot of it is more to do with just how enthusiastic each of them is feeling about playing whatever instrument and no one can predict that.

Isn't there that video of Geo and Deakin jumping where Deaks on piano? And I'm pretty sure I saw some mic setups he had near a piano in some instagram photos. Plus there's piano licks in Just Am. I assumed that's him. I think they half know a lot of instruments like any intrepid songwriter would.

I'm saying from what I can tell I assume Avey is still more experienced on piano than Deakin, relatively speaking, so when it comes to assigning them instruments over a whole tour that just seems more likely to me.
I could be wrong and I know zero about what instruments each of them are actually keen to play at the moment.

Hey guys! Fitting with the general vibe of the thread, I reckon a return to the weirder, more obtuse and organic side of things is looking likely and would be incredible. In an ideal world we'd see a cross between all the gorgeous more acoustic stuff from Feels (especially the detuned piano) and the weirder side of the modular world they're clearly pretty into. I'd say Sleep Cycle/Feels/Eucalyptus meets James Holden and the rest of Border Community sort of thing but it's 2018 and there isn't enough good left in this world for something that perfect.
