A documentary about the band would be so effing awesome

Honestly don't know why there hasn't been one yet. Maybe there isnt enough footage of them in the early years. All i can think of is that of montreal doc that's so good; i came out of it wishing there was an animal collective one

yea or maybe they don't want to let anybody make one... and if there ever was one im sure the band themselves would have a big say in how its done.. maybe theyll do it themselves even someday if were lucky

Oh yeah, that comment Avey made during the AMA on his unreleased DT jams was really exciting. That needs to happen.

I remember reading that ODDSAC initially came from a proposal to make a tour doc... Seeing that plus maybe some sort of retrospective would be cool...
Maybe on some Anton Corbjin type U2 stuff :smoking:

They had the opportunity to to but decided to do what ODDSAC became

Yeah it seems like a doc wasn't up their alley, at least at the time

AC just doing crazy psychedelic noise freakout jams with Björk singing over the top

I have a memory of when avey did his first AMA he said he had a whole buch of footage from the danse/hollin era somewhere in his house, and he was interested in making a doco if he ever got around to sifting through all the footagee

I'd just like to see my kids one more time.

The collaboration ideas in this thread are shit and defeat the purpose of what they do. The usual 'hey, wouldn't it be SICKKKKK if Daft Punk produced the next Radiohead album?!!!'

No it would be oil and water.

Yeah visual albums and audiovisual museum exhibitions are cool but I'm not that excited by Flaming Lips' different formats either

BUT it should be said that basically all the Flaming Lips stuff was really just digital files on a USB stick anyway. An actual pill containing music would be amazing... but won't happen during AC's career

oh man! AnCo and SFA collab would be the best. I bet the dudes would get along and make some really great jams. Just imagining what Gruff's voice complemented with Avey and Panda makes me grin ear to ear.

hehe Inkspot you are my favorite. Your posts are always transcendent.

The GF and I were talking today about the "Splash" sample at the beginning of "Zoom!" on Love Kraft and how it reminds us of AC in the best of ways. Zoom! is probably one of the songs I would love AC to cover, I feel like Avey/Panda would deliver some great moments to that song. Especially the "I can't get enough of it, Kiss me with Apocalypse (A POCKA LIPS), an instant hit" lyric.

some things i'd like to see:

-U.S. elects Will Smith as first Scientologist prez, followed by the erection of the Big Willie Monument.

-hover doors, basically like hover boards, but doors.

-self driving go-kart track, no people/children allowed to drive, just karts going FAST

-intravenous memes

-cheaper gum

I want Deakin to have more than one song on the next album. When I saw them live earlier this year they played a drone track with these crazy hypnotic chants before they came on stage, I hope that'll be the direction they go in for the next release, a straight up drone album to follow up Painting With would be awesome.

I would love something patchwork and long form, a bit like Burial's more recent releases and TTG but droney and songy, like how Guggenheim Jam just filters in or some of the Oddsac transitions or even Swallow at the Hollow. I expect they won't go in this direction but I'd love to sink into a new AC record again one day.

the musical aesthetic of painting with, but instead of short, tight "pop" bangers something very drawn out instrumentally, ambient......fuck it, wash it in reverb and delay, I honestly love the effects. some synth-d out version of a tune like visiting friends. meandering harmonies to get utterly lost in.

something like that yeah but with "down there" & "sleep cycle" type of material. and sonic boom should produce it.
