I was hoping this was a quote from the official Domino link haha

The font is fine, and they've used it in press stuff before. The art is great, hopefully it'll be shiny shiny like the original posters

They are the masters of freak-out vocals. Avey's great big cries are spectacular, sounds almost pre-historic

Sounds so sick. Those Avey crow screams are legendary. Didn't even cop the weight originally. Does beg the question why this wasn't all worked out in advance so it would release around the time of the anniversary. But I also don't give a shit, there's so much music out to listen to in the meantime. I'm 'over' caring about domino's slow roll outs.
There are little quirks on this track that I'm not sure were present during the European tour. They toured Europe then the States right? V excited to listen to the whole thing, particularly Softest Voice, Frogs, the back half of the album. The crowd filling in the claps in Mouth Water was such a nice moment

yeah it's a good guess that the band or the label may have felt strongly about having something sung tongs related to put out for the actual anniversary, but even then they missed it by a week..? just kinda morbidly curious about the nitty gritty of what leads to a bizarre move like this, i want to read the emails
have been feeling this way for a while, i think this is especially particular to neo psychedelic music which is inherently walking the profound vs corny razor's edge at all times. that said i think this artwork is just pretty bad on a basic aesthetic level. the eye isn't naturally drawn anywhere because every square inch is violently battling for its attention. the maximal color and clutter distributed uniformly totally prevents the mud brown skeleton from standing out at all as a foreground element; even the text is fighting for its life. i thought the defeat cover was rough for similar reasons, but this one straight up looks the way that overly compressed music sounds.
sorry to bitch lol, kids on holiday sounds great and i'm excited for the digital bonus tracks

yeah not a fan of the cover/text combo either. especially glaring because of how great the ballet slippers cover was!
this sounds PHENOMENAL tho!!! probably the most excited about having those bonus tracks. panda vocals on i remember learning how to dive are soooo beautiful

I feel bad saying this but if you reverse phase the og track it's panda only. God bless Vashti Bunyan and I am very glad their collaboration introduced me to her

Sacrilege af but I honestly feel like this KoH sounds um. I mean is it better than the go record's version? Could these songs somehow be played better live over a decade after their birth? I mean all the YouTube of these shows do seem immaculate already. It's like the songs are so perfect that basically any version/recording of them is kinda 10/10

Long time lurker here just wanting to chime in and say this live version of Kids on Holiday is absolutely blowing my socks off and it has me super hyped to hear the full record. I did see them perform it live during the EU tour, but hearing it in this context and how unhinged they go during the climax has me feeling like it's going to be a totally fresh listening experience.. Bless the boys for always coming through with something to keep us hungry fans well fed

ya it sounds ummmm better than the og record. Studio Kids was never THAT good for me anyway, lower-mid tier as far as the album tracks go.
But they just sound like they're having so much fucking fun here. And both have incredible and full control of the rhythm, singing and crazy effects. And that kazoo at the end? Aint no Avey howls like this in the studio. so Yeah it's uMMMMMMM >>>>>> og record. ok? is that clear????

noah mimicking a bass drum by blowing into the microphone is very inspired —— is anyone aware of any other artists doing that?

Avery and panda almost seem TOO good at this acoustic + weird mic/pedals + minimal (mouth) percussion set up to not do it more/again. But I can't actually picture them doing this live full band. I feel like they want people to be able to like dance or at least mellow head nodding whilst standing at a club style venue when they are full band, and these shows purposefully were at more like "theatre" style venues which overlap with where they tour normally but like. eh anyway what im saying is, a full band version of this w/ geo on gurdy + field recordings and Deakin on piano sounds so sick, but I can't really picture them doing that..... unless?? I mean they might be done with the "rock band" vibe for a second after being forced to stay in that for like ~5 years and I don't SENSE that a techno/dance aesthetic is up next but who knows.

It's kind of an interesting moment because it does seem like they've done it all. The full band jam band thing from the last era was almost like the last stone unturned and an obvious peak that we all knew they would reach.
I don't even know what I would want them to do next. Maybe something electronic and mysterious. Like a 90 minute drone set could be cool. I think it's safe to say there won't be any news until at least 2026.

Shoutout to the Painting With era version of this too, shit slaps:

Just seems to be the perfect Animal Collective track that always translates super well live - really highlights the surreal trancelike nature of it when they're jamming it out

btw if they ever do archival releases I'd love the 2003 KVRX performance (pilot > softest voice > college) b/w always you or something. guess I should dream bigger given we already have these recordings but I just love those performances so much they deserve a physical release

what do you mean? I don't see anything about an extra five songs
came here to say I was sad there was no Tuvin / Pilot / Prospect Hummer / Sea of Light but if there is then I'm happy again
I've been hoping and dreaming that these five tracks would at some point just kinda show up for me on bandcamp in that lighter shade of gray for unreleased tracks. But, still, I'm just seeing the thirteen main tracks. Somebody posted a link to a person whose bandcamp showed 18 tracks. Has anybody else seen evidence that we'll really get the five bonus tracks in the digital version?
I'm wondering if those extra tracks are somehow only available digitally for people who ordered the vinyl? Did anyone order vinyl through bandcamp? If so, what does the digital album look like on your bandcamp collection?

Didn't someone pm the band and they confirmed we'll get them? I wouldn't worry about it too much, I think the songs will definitely appear once it's been released. I would imagine it's not even possible through bandcamp for them to provide a different digital version based on which version you bought
