I don't think it's too big of a leap Geo picks up more acoustic stuff. He has brought in some stuff you'd have to learn from scratch more or less many times on the last main albums. It's very impressive how much new stuff he learns.

The modular synth stuff was quite far out of the wheelhouse of anything they'd done before. People assume AC would be proficient with modular synths because they are sort of known for synths in general but modular is very much its own thing that they seemed to be still grasping in that era.

For CHz geo had those moog bass pedals and TS the hurdy gurdy of course.

Would love if they brought back the modulars in some capacity. Was so wild that it was Painting With that came out of that deviation

want something closer to campfire/tongs/meeting of the waters

wouldn't mind if the boyz chilled out with acoustics and field recordings again, or something like that

I feel like this current sound contrasts a lot with the high energy stuff on pw and chz, would be cool to see them get kinda crazy and abrasive again but pair it with that tenderness like on sj. not even replicating the sound of that era just that dichotomy between the chaos and that super raw vulnerability ig.

remember avey saying in that recent ama that 7s was sort of a transitional album in the sense that it was like purging his current songwriting style whilst hinting at the newer sound. Neurons and cloud stop rlly stood out to me as feeling new for ac, would be cool if they went in that sort of direction.

would be cool to hear an album with ravey / techno song structures like on MPP but with acoustic guitars and Deakin playing piano

I want them to go full '80s. Flange the hell out of stuff, synths, programmed beats no drum set, more Deakin songs. Geo on vox even if it's vocoded or filtered like Golden Gal. But bring the weird like on that Bug Mall song

reminds me I want them to do their take on a chris brown- "forever" type thing, though I guess a lot of mpp is pretty close to that

true, on that note blue hair avey needs to make a return. fuck it, noah starts wearing that wig again. deakin starts rocking one of those hats that you can drink beer out of. everyone wears birkenstocks with no socks and hideous cargo pants. embrace the granola

I'm very tery tired of bumming round with this scruff's uncouth noodlings. Need some nice clean Thomas Dolby synths and Christopher Cross vocals. Time for AC to grow up. Maybe David could play bass guitar.

these are also brilliantly great ideas, both.

I like the idea of a fashion reset. Panda can't go short-hair ever again though. Grow that thing out. I would also like the return of super long hair Deakin and short-brim hat Avey...

next album name should be Granola 100%

Ha! (pun intended), Juvenile! Haven't thought about him in a long time. That was my 8th grade jam tho.

I hope the next album Panda attacks the drums like Spirit/Hollindagin. Would love to hear dark, moody, psychotic Penderecki strings, free jazz noise freak out, long drawn out, expanding music. Been thinking of Defeat, Cuckoo, Ice Cream Factory, Bleed, Two Sails on a Sound, Wastered kinda all in this brooding AC zone and would be juiced for an album of that. Or something that's very heavily distorted or hard to understand what's going on.

If they expand on the dark ambient trajectory they explored on the inspection soundtrack we could be in for a true Scott Walker style anco album

Yeh, this is something I really hope happens at some point. Love the idea of some solid tribal/techno beats and then lots of crazy acoustic elements, lots of repetition and chanting and building, all with the sense of melody that they nailed on stuff like ST and MPP.
