There's at least 3 different moments in this song that are just so unbelievably beautiful, in the way that the best AC stuff is where it just totally overwhelms you:
1. The moment where Josh's vocals first come in.
2. The drums steadily getting more intense at around 2:30
3. And of course the big climactic high notes near the end, and basically everything that follows til it's over.
They couldn't have had a more perfect closing song for this album, like it enhanced everything that came before it.
4. Panda Bear's vocals at 2:50
shock
plus all the guitar parts
they couldn't have nailed the instrumentation/layering any better.

anyone have any ideas about the lyrics of that little harmony bridge?
ideas:
Sun shuts my eyes
reminds me of my fire
to go (where?)

I hear something like,
Some[one] shuts my eyes
Reminds me of my fights
and those

We almost need a new R&D thread for the wav bird. It's that good.
Not being funny but fuck off when Noah comes in halfway through on this unbelievable

They might've gone above and beyond with this one. I hesitate to gush or gas it. But i'm pretty sure this is might be one of their best moments. Atleast the passage at the end. Holy shit. It disarms me

I was thinking the same. There's a massive frequency range that just wasn't in the vinyl bird at all. Every sustained chord is just, endless. Spacially.

his vocals cut so deep, like it snaps the cord that connects me to Time & Place and i feel totally utterly lost in the moment of his appearance, suspended in an all-encompassing awe that lifts me from any semblance of reality into the most perfect dream, like he is a benevolent apparition who has come to give us the exact gift we've been yearning to receive our entire lives.
it's The Moment of the year for me, a top X AC moment of all time ... hard to put into words what hearing his voice does to my ecosystem

might be the best Animal Collective song, and that's saying something. transcendent. it's erased me to water, pure water, and i'm a river flowing back to my source

Somebody in the main time skiffs thread said that they put a saxophone on R&D which had me anxious af. I'm pretty sure it's just autotune avey, right? In any case, this song is a beauty.

I think they definitely did. Sounds like it to my ears. works really well imo! Very subtle but it's there

Idk I think it's just a synth. Feels weird that there would be sax on the album but we haven't heard about anybody being credited for playing it. Don't think any of the boys would have played it lol.

Yeah I absolutely think this is the best song they've ever done. So deeply emotionally resonant and HEALING. Can't get over the imagery of being submerged in a shimmering pool. but like you can breath underwater and spend as long as you want down there. It's unreal that I'm left at almost a loss for words with it. Cannot get enough.

This was by far my favourite from the boots and it exceeded my expectations. Wow, they fucking did it. Haven't felt this way about an AC song since NTB.

It's really funny you should say this. I have a baby due soon and we're hoping to have a water birth. I was just listening to this song thinking how absolutely perfectly it would suit that whole experience. I just need to convince the wife now haha.

dio had mentioned this as well i think, but what are the chances that last guitar phrase is intentionally a call-back to "In The Flowers" ?
i'm hearing soooooooo many people saying this is the album they should've released after MPP, that this would have been them "capitalizing" on their moment. kinda interesting to me.
