magicians has that AC voodoo that makes it special god-tier shit, so that gets my vote hard... don't get the hype for genies open yet, i'll give that one time...LOVED sea of light on the sung tongs tour, but the new version just seems flat until that outro...

Cherokee, Stride and Genies all tied up and nowhere to go wow.

Kinda glad I only listened to Sea of Light from Sung Tong shows like once or twice. I will say I'm mostly hyped about the outro-ish part but the harmonies are so wild

the synths in cherokee are for sure great, but its all about gem and i. that song fucking rocks god damn it. its so playful but weirdly moody sounding... and "crack open another beer... lets get in it"

also people are massively sleeping on we go back. that song has a more controlled tiquid 04 energy to me... and the vocal tradeoffs... its gonna fucking pop

totally agree about we go back. really get the Feels vibes and bloody love the song.

interesting that prester, the first single, has 0 votes! have we just listened too much so are more excited for other tracks?

ya I think its mostly that it actually came out, indicating that some of the hype of these tracks stems from excitement re how things will turn out via studio production.

a poll on the tracks will def be different once the album(s) actually come out.

this makes my mistake sting even more because Genie's had just pulled ahead so now Cherokee is artificially inflated and has tied it again. smh what have I done

Kings: 1

Cherokee: (more like actually) 5, rn

shit, why not, do a full panda-penned single release. Neither fit with Defeat lP in my mind anyway (tho I think one of them does according to Dave)

Magicians is sneaking up on me. current non-Defeat ranks:

1. Cherokee, 2. Magicians, 3. Broke Gemini, 4. Stride Rite, 5. Genie's Open

But passer-by, slayer and hell even live Piggy Knows are nipping at their heels.

oh lets go magicians

it is their next fireworks/purple bottle level of song. Big ol heart-centered whopper of a tune

then by the time they record it the lyrics will be in third person :P. so it goes

I will have heard it but mostly only in the background or at couple of times properly. Defeat stuck out to me so much on that recording, that's 95% what I listened to repeatedly. I really do need to go back and explore the MB more thoroughly.

Whaaat I think it's one of their best titles they've made. It was my #1 choice to get moved off Music Box by title alone. Different strokes I guess lol

Title wouldn't work if it wasn't a perfect and hugely epic master-tier song. I should Music Box version soon cuz in my mind at least it changed a good bit

Those opening bass lines, drum fills and sample are filthy

When I first read it, it was like I knew it was going to be a self gratifying, celebratory anthem. And yet it still exceeded my dreams.

Magicians is so damn cinematic sounding that it should probably have a huge accompanying music video. not that I care much about their vids usually, but still

the beginning has a kinda spooky Twin Peaks energy. A little Hollindanse ish honestly

This made me laugh, I can picture the article in my head. I dig the title though, they've been at it for 20 plus years they deserve to have some fun with their legacy at this point.

Im not native english and i can't understand the words from the audio and it seems to me that the one from 2019 in genius lyrics are quite different. someone had trascripted the new version?

Dragon Slayer and Cherokee resonated with me immediately so early there of those two. Defeat isn't an option for some reason (because it would easily win) but I would have picked that.

dio didn't include Defeat because it would just be a landslide. so I guess we're all really just choosing our second favourite TS era track.

I mean if defeat was still there.. I might choose it over Cherokee but it's really hard to say. I feel like Defeat has transcended song-dom itself.

I like how close things are.. Cherokee, Genies, Broke, Dragon, Defeat, Magicians and Stride all kinds equally loved. This era man. Wow..

Broke Zodiac is getting screwed but I blame it on the best version of it not being broadcast til after I made this. That's my new top 3/5ish or so for sure

Walker and We Go Back not getting any love apparently because people who like those a TON probably like something else a bit more.

More surprised that WGB doesn't have a single one... I feel like there was more hype for that one at some point... and its also not a song that people think got less good.... Bolder owned too but I think most agree it just got better. And yet... not good enough, Avey, try again.

fr tho, WGB is like Feels and PW had a strange, hype child and I think it makes a lil more sense as a single than Cherokee, OR Dragon
