Kinda of raw with this vocal take, but it's what I recorded awhile ago. I want to go back and redo it, but it's still just novel to hear this minor version of the song.
mine are all really rough, just record them for fun sometimes

Aww, thanks guys
Diomedes those Slasher Flicks cover were really good, your voice actually sounds pretty close to Avey's!

ZGecks, I love how wonky that WCWAR sounds in a minor key. Sounds like some old southern jam. Diomedes, big ups on those Fill Those Spaces and Slow Words covers - that's my favorite byproduct of AC debuting songs live - we get to hear all these interesting takes without an official release.
I just finished a few days work on a Heather In The Hospital cover. It started as a remix, but very quickly I decided to take it the full mile and cover it.
Frump, that cover is absolutely amazing. I think I actually like it more than the original. Major props on the arrangement, recording, production, just everything. Good work mate.

Hey guys, y'all's covers are freakin great, such creative takes on some of these. That Heather in the Hospital turned out really really well. I did one of Nadir as well a while ago, really cover-able song. I'm super excited about the production on the new album. Also when I did this cover I had no clue what a lot of the words were, and had a bunch of theories on what the song could be about, so there's that. Hope you guys think it's dope
it's rly good. we should do a cover album before it comes out because that is super inspiring

Thanks guys! I would love to hear some covers of the other ones. Nadir seems like one of the simplest, so it would be really cool to hear what people do with the others. (someone quick do the one with the hocketing or whatever part)

Here's a quick cover of My Girls I did. I tried to mix it with the Sung Tongs era of the band. I know I got the lyrics wrong. Haha
hey y'all. I wanna do a cover of you can count on me, but I need a sample of the drums. don't ask me why I can't do them myself...

Well there's no instance of the drums playing on their own without guitar, so It can't really be sampled from that source. I could recreate the beat as best I can, and send you that. Interested?

Can't you do them yourself?
Awesome job with ToC, Vilent. Sounds dope, love the tone, sounds kind of aggressive where you might not expect it - I don't think the vocals sound very rough at all.

such bad rhythm
e: some of the musical tracks are okay and kind of interesting but it really is like brutally out of sync whenever the vocals are in. a lot of it fees like clips were just dropped in the wrong place on the timeline? really sloppy

nah, that's just the rhythm we chose for it. sorry it's not your thing. i'd say listen a few times and see if it clicks in your head but probably don't bother cause life's too short ya know. thanks for listening.

no, i understand the altered rhythms in the verses but there are some real tempo issues in the chorus between the vox and the background tracks (minus the piano which is also a little janky)
e: yr record sounds a lot better fwiw

oh hey yeah good ear man! thanks! this finally got me to figure out how to change time signatures mid-song in ableton, the way i'd been doing it was such a mess. it's been fixed and reuploaded.

shit i was listening like damn, if the rhythm is off i must be deaf cos it sounds totally fine to me but it's a good cover not sure if it was recorded altogether than mixed down on the individual tracks, but there's a good balance between it all. one piece of advice would be for the lead vocalist to try less for perfect pitch and more for the emotional tone of the song (which is very jolly, which she was not) i dunno how else to explain but her emotional presence is just very flat whereas panda's is very round and uppity even if he's not too exuberant in his melody. A good example would be the difference between paul's voice on paperback writer and lady madonna, lady has much more energy in its presence, but paperback writer is very straightforward and almost sounds uninspired (which it probably is knowing paul)

i fixed the rhythm prob thanks to jfw7, it's a complex piece and we are doing some weird things with it but im glad how it turned out. sometimes my instinct with a cover moves towards doing the opposite of the original or countering the tone of backing track, it's kinda dumb but somehow sorta what i end up doing in certain aspects like the one you mentioned. thanks for taking the time to listen and respond! i might do another one someday.

I recorded a quick and dirty cover of My Favourite Colours. I don't know the song very well (I never really liked it very much haha), but I listened to it once and then later I was messing around on my piano and realised I could play the two bits I could remember. It's a weird song anyway.
