Hopefully/definitely the Amazon thing. It'd suit the title. Some of whatever that was could've gone on to be used in Coral. Everyone wins

What did L.H.O.O.Q. mean?

Re: General The Animal Collective Talk

by clearwaters
Ah, I see it's a reference to an old French artist who drew moustaches on the Mona Lisa and such..
wrote:
The name of the piece, L.H.O.O.Q., is a pun; the letters pronounced in French sound like "Elle a chaud au cul", "She is hot in the arse"; "avoir chaud au cul" is a vulgar expression implying that a woman has sexual restlessness

Anywho, am loving Coral Orgy, really hope their next official AC release is spaced like this.
I haven't been lurking too hard recently, is this a dj thing or are they performing this live?

coral orgy was a single, standalone live performance

yeah, it's from marcel duchamp. who isn't quite "old" given he's 20th century; he was the foremost dada artist, which AC claimed was a big inspiration for PW

i love how panda's drums on "in the singing box" interact with the rest of the song. really getting into danse.

i found this interview with "the animal collective" today. i love how they also refer to themselves as "the animal collective"

Q: [about feels] So you’re doing some slow jams?

AVEY TARE: Yeah, lots of slow jams. It will be the make-out record of the year.

Has Avey ever talked about For Reverend Green? Like what the song is about. It's pretty abstract but it definitely hits a specific mood. What do you guys think its meaning is, if it has any?

Interesting to see that so many sounds I thought were done with a sampler or synth were actually obsure ass instruments. Pretty cool.

Random question:

Does anyone know of any other bands besides Animal Collective in which the band members live in different countries or far away from each other?

There are a lot I think but since there is the word "collective" in the band name, the bloggers and music writers often write/ask about this.

Gorillaz, The Strokes, Blur, thinking fellers union local 282. I am pretty sure the WU TANG members don't live in the same city since they are all superstars.
I mean I read so many times this "Oh we did not talk or see eachother for X years because of this and that" in music interviews.
There are much more but since I have only read AC interview for 4 years, I am not aware.

edit maybe I am talking shit, you maybe be right
