I think that's just the quality of the preview stream. If you listen to the preview for Floridada on amazon its also not very good quality

Yea I'm 100% sure these are phone recordings unless someone wants to send me what they think is a direct stream. But what I'm hearing is not. You can actually hear them turn the speakers volume up at the beginning of floridada

Hey I'm the one who recorded the rip! To settle this debate, it's not a phone recording--it was done via Audacity. I did turn my headphone volume up at the beginning, because for some reason that affects output that Audacity records on my setup at least. The quality of the preview stream really was just that bad...

seems like this whole album is a logical conclusion of the avey+noah full hive-mind vocal fusion that guys eyes/taste predicted, cant even tell who would be lead vox from the samples except for maybe 2 of them (still not listening to the last 3 songs..)

Golden Gal so far sounds like it will be my favorite. But we will see.

I'm really into the idea that this is an album about art. Painting With is such a cool title and I can't wait to hear songs about cubism.

been a lot of talk about vocal trade-offs, comparisons to boys latin, and calling this their most accessible record... but are you guys hearing these rhythms!?!? tempo is so high and relentless but somehow these tracks still stutter and stumble is such a sweet way (even just in the 30 sec clips). this is totally going to be much more complex and mind bending than we are expecting. i dont think im ready for a listen, it is something i should probably prepare for.

guys.. it's so close.. this album is totally their final form... or at least a giant leap closer to it

I'm fine with lots of hocketing as long it isn't overplayed, which I doubt it will be. I do wonder how this album is gonna translate to a live setting though. FloriDada alone seems like it would be fairly difficult to pull off.

I love the effect hocketing can have on the energy of a song (digging it in FloridaDa a lot). They mastered it on MPP and I'm excited to see where they take it on this Bob Ross themed record.

I'm going to agree with this. I didn't think too much of the samples other than I NEED to hear the full versions. This sound is very huge for their discography.

I think that if you're someone who liked the samples, then you'll probably only like the full songs more.

To those who are concerned about similarities between the melodies, I wouldn't worry yet; Burglars is a pretty good example, as at least for me (as well as I think a lot of people here) the most exciting part is the end and the 30 second snippet didn't even capture that part of the song. It's pretty safe to say that what we've heard still isn't representative of the album's best moments and if anything only really clues us in on the production style.

I totally agree, tbh even if the album ended up not being my favorite or whatever, it would still be more than worth it to see Animal Collective get widespread acclaim that they deserve. I'm still skeptical as to if Painting With will really explode in popularity, but it would be great to see.

somehow in my list of favs i didnt mention the best one... NATURAL SELECTION holy fuck this song is going to be wild... bagels is also sooo sweet it definitely deserves a shout out... this all sounds great honestly i cant believe we are getting this in a few months

only listening through once so im not too familiar but this album seems to lean toward some of the melodic elements of slasher flicks intertwined with the bounce and colors of swallow at the hallow...pure fun imo

Did you read that somewhere (that it's gonna be a single) or are you guessing?

yea wasn't there some theory that the songs that were (initially) left up as previews on amazon (Floridada/On Delay/Summing) were the three singles? or was that already wiped and disproven? (aside from that i think Sonic Boom mentioned he would've pushed it as the first single and i'm also just assuming the boys eventually obey the boom)

Yeah, it's really all about the label. They've got a schedule and have to time these things. AnCo is probably really excited about people hearing it so they're freebirding out stuff as much as they can.

Wow. Talk about picky. It's two freaking months away yo! I think that only musicians with a lot of name recognition benefit from instant streams anyway. I'm just happy it's coming relatively soon. The wait for Chz was excruciating.

but rlly this sounds amazing.. like a more aggressive or energetic reverb-less mpp with the kinetic sounds/textures of a tighter, more electronic daney chz... at least some of this (on delay) is def the techno album ppl were predicting.
