Hey everyone. I recorded the show tonight right in front of the sound booth. Just have to clean it up a tiny little bit tomorrow but this is by far the best bootleg I’ve ever recorded. It’s the clearest I’ve ever heard them. The mix was really good. The crowd was a little talkative around me and some boomer lady was tripping pretty hard during defeat.

I’ll upload tomorrow night!

lots of me laughing at various things like the chaos of chores and when one of Noah’s mics got fucked up. Sorry folks. This boy was stoned. :drugz:

sounds fun, looking forward to listening! thanks for recording

i'm glad no one up front at mass moca recorded the show because the dude next to me kept screaming "DO YOU GUYS NEED A TRUMPET PLAYER?" during l'rain and animal collective's sets. it was so funny!!!! i only wish he did it more

Wait a second. Wat

Yup, not sure if birdmangus heard it because I was in between. He also kept recording short clips and would say to his friend each time “this is getting sampled!”

The trumpet shit was actually embarrassing

If you carry your recorder in with your phone as in the same hand you’ll probably be fine. That’s how I got mine into mr smalls last night. And everywhere I sneak it in.

Boring Saturday for me, so I whipped together a chart showing songs played in the tour for fun. Top few are always played, colors represent songs that alternate, and everything else is just what's possible. A few patterns that don't quite sync up so I didn't highlight them, but we'll see in coming days.

Chicago set RIPPED (L’Rain anybody?????) — haven’t checked if this is new but they pulled out No More Runnin’ again, which fell limp in the mix at P4k but had STRONG bass here and great crowd reception. So happy to finally hear the bulk of the new stuff (Defeat included) live. I’ve also been converted and I like Applesauce now — Don’t know if this happened at other shows but the L’Rain Saxophonist joined for Defeat which was really unexpected and cool, he just kind of ran onto stage mid song right before he started playing

oh CRAP I may have misheard but I just remembered — it sounded like Avey said they just recorded some stuff in Chicago?? Idk if that last part is right but it sounded to me like they very recently did some more in studio stuff — gonna have to check on this from any boots, there’s at least one bc the guy directly to my left filmed the whole show on his phone.

Chicago was great. I recorded, though I’m not sure of the quality yet, will have to check it when I get back home.

And I think he just meant that L’Rain’s sax guy had recorded with them in December. Loved the little trills he added to defeat though. Gonna sound so sweet in the studio I imagine.

gave someone on the 2nd floor light/sound booth a beer in exchange for optimal recorder positioning and it came out really, really nice.

recorded on my zoom h5 -> split/processed/encoded in ableton with a bit of EQ, panning, and stereo enhancement.

Definitely the best boot of this tour so far, thank you!

Also remembered the other night somebody at the Vic yelled "Play anything you want!" in response to requesters and Avey said back "I don't think we have a song called 'Anything You Want.'" :mmhmm:

How different do we think May and Fall will be from this current run? Which old ones might they swap out and will anything new show up? I could see NMR or Unsolved dropping off setlists but I'd rather In the Flowers make room for a different cut from MPP-PW eras. Really hope Applesauce stays.

Yeah, seen In The Flowers as an opener before, and not the biggest fan of Broke Zodiac. Probably woulda shuffled things around, dropped acouple songs to fit in Magicians From Baltimore, then it woulda been a perfect night.

feel like may will be pretty similar, maybe they'll practice 1 or 2 more songs to add to the mix for may, then hopefully the fall tour will be a bit more different than that

So I listened to my recording of the Chicago show and while most of it sounds pretty good, I had to take a freebird during Stride and put the recorder in my wife’s purse, which really muffled the sound on that one. Also you can hear my wife talking occasionally, ha. It needs some work to say the least.

But if no one else recorded it and someone’s willing to do some doctoring, I’ll post it. Otherwise I’ll throw it in the fireplace
